Slovakia MBBS Fees 2027: Bratislava, Martin and Košice

Slovakia MBBS fees are 11,500 to 13,500 euros a year for General Medicine in English at the three partner faculties: 13,500 euros at Comenius University's Faculty of Medicine in Bratislava for 2027/2028, 13,000 euros at UPJŠ in Košice for 2026/2027 starters, and 11,500 euros at the Jessenius Faculty of Medicine in Martin. That is about 12.2 to 14.3 lakh rupees a year.

This guide reads the Slovakia MBBS fees straight from each faculty's own pages: the yearly tuition, six year totals in euros and rupees, the admission fees, how each faculty wants to be paid, and the papers Slovakia asks for before you can stay as a student. If you're a NEET student or a parent working out the money side of an MBBS in Europe, start here.

Key Takeaways

  • Three faculties, three prices. Bratislava charges 13,500 euros a year (2027/2028), Košice 13,000 euros (2026/2027) and Martin 11,500 euros.
  • Bratislava fixes your fee for the whole course. Its admission page says a student pays the same tuition fee each academic year.
  • Six years cost 69,000 to 81,000 euros in tuition. That is about 73.2 to 85.9 lakh rupees at the European Central Bank rate of 30 October 2026.
  • Small admission fees. 85 euros in Bratislava, 70 euros in Martin and 30 euros for the Košice entrance exam.
  • The 2027/2028 cycle is opening. Martin takes applications from 1 December 2026, and Bratislava's March exam registration runs from 1 January to 21 February 2027.

What are the Slovakia MBBS fees at each faculty?

Slovakia MBBS fees are 13,500 euros a year at Comenius University's Faculty of Medicine in Bratislava (2027/2028), 13,000 euros a year at the Faculty of Medicine of Pavol Jozef Šafárik University (UPJŠ) in Košice (2026/2027) and 11,500 euros a year at the Jessenius Faculty of Medicine in Martin. All three teach a six year General Medicine programme in English that leads to the MUDr. title, the degree Indian students call MBBS.

Bratislava's admission process page lists General Medicine for 2027/2028 at 13,500 euros a year with about 240 places, and adds that the student is guaranteed to pay the same tuition fee each academic year. UPJŠ sets 13,000 euros a year for General Medicine taught in a language other than Slovak in Rector's Decision No. 3/2026, signed on 29 January 2026 for students admitted in 2026/2027. Martin's applicant FAQ states 11,500 euros for one academic year of two semesters.

Faculty Annual tuition Applies to Approx. in rupees Places
Comenius University, Faculty of Medicine, Bratislava 13,500 euros 2027/2028 intake 14.32 lakh about 240
UPJŠ Faculty of Medicine, Košice 13,000 euros 2026/2027 intake 13.79 lakh 210
Jessenius Faculty of Medicine, Martin (Comenius University) 11,500 euros current FAQ figure 12.20 lakh not stated

Martin is a second medical faculty of Comenius University, so two of the three degrees carry the Comenius name, yet the Slovakia MBBS fees still differ between them. Our pages on Comenius University Faculty of Medicine, the Jessenius Faculty of Medicine in Martin and the UPJŠ Faculty of Medicine in Košice cover the campuses and courses.

How much does six years of MBBS in Slovakia cost?

Six years of tuition cost 81,000 euros in Bratislava, 78,000 euros in Košice and 69,000 euros in Martin at the rates above. Add the admission fee and the totals are 81,085, 78,030 and 69,070 euros. In Bratislava the six year figure is firm, because the faculty guarantees the same fee every year.

For Košice and Martin, the six year sums are our own calculation and assume today's fee holds for the whole course. UPJŠ's decision says tuition for the total period of study is governed by a contract for the provision of study, so read your contract for the exact figure. Martin's FAQ gives one year's fee without a date.

Cost item Bratislava Košice Martin
Tuition per year 13,500 euros 13,000 euros 11,500 euros
Six years of tuition 81,000 euros 78,000 euros 69,000 euros

Six year total with fee 81,085 euros 78,030 euros 69,070 euros

What are Slovakia MBBS fees in rupees?

In rupees, Slovakia MBBS fees are about 14.32 lakh a year in Bratislava, 13.79 lakh in Košice and 12.20 lakh in Martin. Six years of tuition come to about 85.9, 82.75 and 73.2 lakh. We converted at the European Central Bank's euro to rupee reference rate of 106.0840 rupees per euro on 30 October 2026.

Fee Billed amount Approx. in rupees
Bratislava admission fee (one time, per application) 85 euros 9,000
Martin admission fee (one time, per application) 70 euros 7,400
Košice entrance exam fee (one time) 30 euros 3,200
Tuition per year, Bratislava 13,500 euros 14.32 lakh
Tuition per year, Košice 13,000 euros 13.79 lakh
Tuition per year, Martin 11,500 euros 12.20 lakh

Treat these rupee figures as a snapshot, not a quote. Your bank adds its own margin, and the rupee will move over six years. All three faculties bill in euros, so you track one exchange rate for the whole degree. Recheck it before every transfer.

Bratislava, Martin or Košice: the fees side by side

The yearly gap in Slovakia MBBS fees between the most and the least expensive faculty is 2,000 euros, so the small print matters as much as the headline. Here's what each faculty says about the money around the tuition.

Point Bratislava Košice Martin
Tuition rule Same fee guaranteed every academic year Total set by a contract for the provision of study 11,500 euros for one academic year
Admission fee 85 euros per application, non-refundable 30 euros exam fee, non-refundable 70 euros, paid when you apply
Help with the fee Not stated on the admission page Rector may reduce, waive or postpone tuition on written request Not stated in the FAQ
Entrance exam Online in March, online or in Bratislava in August Biology and chemistry, 200 questions, in Košice Online, three dates in 2027

Bratislava gives you the most certainty on Slovakia MBBS fees: one number for six years. Košice gives you a door to ask for help, because its fee decision lets the Rector reduce, waive or postpone tuition after a written request that takes into account your study results and your social and health situation. Martin gives you the lowest yearly bill.

Which one-time fees come before your first lecture?

Before you start, the one-time fee is the admission or exam fee: 85 euros in Bratislava, 70 euros in Martin and 30 euros in Košice. Each is paid when you apply, by bank transfer in euros, and the Bratislava and Košice fees are kept even if you are not admitted.

Bratislava's admission page says the 85 euro fee is charged per application, so applying for General Medicine and Dentistry means two fees. Pay it to the faculty account with your full name as the reference, and only once. Martin's admission process page asks for proof of the 70 euro payment together with a passport scan, a scan of your school leaving certificate and a certificate of fitness. Its FAQ adds that a retake means a new application and a new fee.

UPJŠ's entrance examination page lists a 30 euro exam fee, non-refundable for every applicant, with separate bank details for payments from outside the EU. After admission, Bratislava asks for a notarised birth certificate translated into Slovak, a medical fitness certificate, proof of hepatitis B vaccination and a nostrification or recognition statement for your school certificate, all by the enrolment day. Our guide to the apostille for MBBS in Europe shows how Indian families prepare these papers.

How do you pay tuition in Slovakia?

You pay Slovakia MBBS fees by international bank transfer in euros to the faculty's own account. Martin's payment details page asks for proof of the full tuition payment at enrolment for each academic year, and tells students from outside the SEPA area to choose the charge option OUR, which means the sender pays all bank charges.

A few details help a family plan:

  • Use the right reference. Martin asks for the student's name, the study year and the words tuition fee in the remittance information. Bratislava asks for your full name as the reference for the admission fee.
  • Bank charges are yours. From India you send from outside SEPA, so pick OUR and ask your bank for the full cost of each transfer.
  • Keep every receipt. Martin tells students to keep the bank receipt as proof of the transfer. It's also what you show at enrolment.
  • Read the Košice contract. UPJŠ's fee decision says the form of payment and the due date follow the university's Statute, and the total for the course follows your study contract.

Our guide to education remittance for MBBS in Europe explains how an Indian bank sends Slovakia MBBS fees abroad, and education loans for MBBS abroad covers borrowing.

Four reasons Slovakia MBBS fees are easy to plan

Slovakia MBBS fees are easy to plan because each faculty publishes its tuition on its own pages before you apply, and the numbers sit close together. Here's what stood out when we read them:

  1. A fixed fee in Bratislava. The faculty guarantees the same tuition every academic year, so your six year budget is known on day one.
  2. The lowest yearly bill in Martin. At 11,500 euros a year, Martin is 2,000 euros below Bratislava.
  3. A hardship door in Košice. UPJŠ's Rector can reduce, waive or postpone tuition on a student's written request.
  4. One currency and small admission fees. Everything is billed in euros, and the admission fees run from 30 to 85 euros.

When can you apply for 2027/2028?

You can apply to Martin from 1 December 2026 and register for Bratislava's March exam from 1 January to 21 February 2027. Martin runs online exams on 20 March, 26 June and 6 August 2027. Bratislava examines General Medicine applicants on 15 March 2027 and asks applicants from outside the EU to take the March exam only, because the visa takes time.

Faculty Exam date Apply by
Bratislava, March session (online) 15 March 2027 21 February 2027
Bratislava, August session 16 August 2027 25 July 2027
Martin, online 20 March 2027 6 March 2027
Martin, online 26 June 2027 13 June 2027
Martin, online 6 August 2027 24 July 2027

Bratislava publishes results within 30 days of the exam and enrols in September 2027. UPJŠ has not yet published its 2027/2028 dates; its current page describes one test in biology and chemistry with 200 questions in two and a half hours, no minus points, and a pass mark that is usually 75%. Our guide to the MBBS entrance exam in Europe shows how these tests compare, and NEETsheet's NEET 2027 biology preparation strategy and chemistry preparation strategy cover the same two subjects. Keep an eye on our MBBS deadlines page as well.

What does Slovakia ask for the student residence permit?

Students from outside the EU need temporary residence for the purpose of study. The EU's immigration portal page for students in Slovakia lists a document proving financial means and a criminal record statement from your country of citizenship, and says the application is made in person, preferably at the Slovak embassy in your country.

The same page adds that documents must not be older than 90 days when you submit them, that you must get health insurance within 3 working days of collecting your residence document, and that you hand in a medical report within 30 days. Residence for study can be granted for the expected length of the studies, up to six years.

These papers don't change the Slovakia MBBS fees themselves, but the financial means part is real money your family shows on top of tuition. Our guides to proof of funds, the residence permit for MBBS students in Europe, the student visa for MBBS in Europe and health insurance show how families prepare them.

How does a Slovak degree fit the NMC rules?

India's Foreign Medical Graduate Licentiate Regulations 2021 (FMGL) are the National Medical Commission rules for Indians who study medicine abroad. They ask for a course of at least 54 months, an internship of at least 12 months at the same foreign institution, teaching in English, and registration to practise in the country that awards the degree.

All three Slovak faculties teach their six year General Medicine programme in English. Before you send the first payment of your Slovakia MBBS fees, check each FMGL condition for your own intake with the faculty and keep the written answer with your acceptance letter. Our guide to checking NMC and WDOMS recognition walks through it.

How do you plan your Slovakia MBBS fees step by step?

Plan your Slovakia MBBS fees in a fixed order: the exam first, then the application, then the money. Here's the sequence we suggest.

  1. Check where you stand for NEET if you plan to work in India later. NEETsheet explains the NEET qualifying marks and the NEET 2027 eligibility criteria.
  2. Pick your faculty by budget, city and exam date: the fixed fee in Bratislava, the lowest fee in Martin, or the contract route in Košice.
  3. Prepare a passport scan, your school certificate and the fitness certificate each faculty asks for.
  4. Pay the admission fee with your application: 85 euros in Bratislava, 70 euros in Martin or 30 euros in Košice.
  5. Sit the exam. If you're outside the EU and want Bratislava, choose the March session.
  6. After acceptance, read the payment terms or the study contract and send the first year's tuition before enrolment, choosing OUR for bank charges.
  7. Prepare the residence papers: proof of financial means, a criminal record statement and documents no older than 90 days.
  8. From year two, set a reminder before each academic year and send each transfer a week early.
