Introduction

About Studying MBBS in Russia

Russia has been one of the largest destinations for Indian MBBS students for decades. Why Russia

Why Study MBBS in Russia

Russia combines recognised degrees and English-medium teaching with low fees, historic universities and a large Indian student community.

Affordable Fees

The full six-year MBBS in Russia typically costs around ₹22–45 lakh including hostel and insurance, far below most private medical colleges in India (₹50 lakh to over ₹1 crore). There is no capitation or donation.

WDOMS Listing & FMGE Eligibility

Leading Russian universities are listed in the World Directory of Medical Schools (WDOMS), and programmes that meet the NMC's FMGL 2021 conditions let graduates sit the FMGE / NExT and practise in India.

No Entrance Beyond NEET

Admission is based on Class 12 marks and a qualifying NEET score, with no separate university entrance exam and no IELTS or TOEFL required, since teaching is in English.

Historic, Established Universities

Russia has trained doctors for over 250 years. Sechenov University traces its medical school to 1758, giving the country a deep tradition of medical education and large teaching hospitals.

Large Indian Community

Thousands of Indian students already study across Russian medical universities, with established hostels, Indian food and senior-student support networks that ease the transition.

Global Pathways

A WDOMS-listed, ECFMG-eligible degree can support licensing pathways in India (FMGE / NExT) and, for eligible graduates, examinations such as the USMLE or PLAB. ECFMG eligibility varies by university — verify it before applying.
