The MD program in the USA typically lasts 4 years, divided into two main phases and undertaken after a bachelor's degree.

Important: Unlike direct-entry MBBS systems, US medical schools admit students only after a 4-year bachelor's degree, so the MD is a graduate (postgraduate-entry) program.

Students must have a solid foundation in the sciences and a recognized 4-year bachelor's degree (pre-medical coursework) before applying to an MD program.

Applicants must sit the MCAT and demonstrate English proficiency.

Medical College Admission Test — the standardized exam required for MD admission.
IELTS or TOEFL
English-proficiency test for applicants whose prior education was not in English.
For Students Planning to Return to India: Clearing NEET is only required if students plan to return and practise in India, as per National Medical Commission rules.
