Croatia MBBS Fees 2026: Split and Zagreb Costs in Rupees

Croatia MBBS fees are 12,000 euros a year at both partner schools, the University of Split School of Medicine and the University of Zagreb School of Medicine, for their six year Medical Studies in English in 2026/2027. That is about 12.75 lakh rupees a year, and six years of tuition come to 72,000 euros.

This guide reads the Croatia MBBS fees straight from each school's own 2026/2027 call for applications: the yearly tuition, six year totals in euros and rupees, the application fees, how each school wants to be paid, and the papers Croatia asks for before you can stay as a student. If you're a NEET student or a parent working out the money side of an MBBS in Europe, start here.

Key Takeaways

  • One price at both schools. Split and Zagreb each charge 12,000 euros a year for Medical Studies in English in 2026/2027.
  • Six years cost 72,000 euros in tuition. That is about 76.5 lakh rupees at the European Central Bank rate of 22 October 2026.
  • Zagreb lets you pay by semester. Pay 12,000 euros at once, or 12,200 euros in two parts of 6,100 euros before each semester.
  • Small application fees. Split asks 200 euros and Zagreb 300 euros with the application, both paid once.
  • Know the first payment. Split wants the full first year within one week of the acceptance letter; Zagreb holds your place with a 2,500 euro first instalment.

What are the Croatia MBBS fees at Split and Zagreb?

Croatia MBBS fees are 12,000 euros a year at the University of Split School of Medicine and 12,000 euros a year at the University of Zagreb School of Medicine, for the 2026/2027 academic year. Both run a six year integrated programme in English that leads to the title of Doctor of Medicine, the degree Indian students call MBBS. Both bill in euros.

Split's 2026/2027 public call states the annual tuition fee of 12,000 euros and plans 70 places. Zagreb's call for applications for 2026/2027 sets the same 12,000 euros a year, with an option to pay 12,200 euros in two instalments, and admits up to 60 students.

School Annual tuition 2026/2027 Approx. in rupees Places
University of Split School of Medicine 12,000 euros 12.75 lakh 70
University of Zagreb School of Medicine, paid at once 12,000 euros 12.75 lakh 60
University of Zagreb School of Medicine, two instalments 12,200 euros (2 x 6,100) 12.96 lakh 60

So the choice between the two cities isn't really a choice about tuition. The yearly bill is the same; what differs is the one-time fee, the way you pay and the admission route. Our pages on the University of Split School of Medicine and the University of Zagreb School of Medicine cover the campuses and courses.

How much does six years of MBBS in Croatia cost?

Six years of tuition in Croatia cost 72,000 euros at the 2026/2027 rate, at Split and at Zagreb if you pay each year at once. Paying Zagreb in two instalments every year brings it to 73,200 euros. Add the application fee and the totals are 72,200 euros at Split and 72,300 or 73,500 euros at Zagreb.

The schools publish one year's fee, so these six year sums are our own calculation. They assume the 2026/2027 fee stays the same for the whole course, which neither call promises.

Cost item Split Zagreb, paid at once Zagreb, two instalments
Tuition per year 12,000 euros 12,000 euros 12,200 euros
Six years of tuition 72,000 euros 72,000 euros 73,200 euros
Application fee 200 euros 300 euros 300 euros
Six year total with fee 72,200 euros 72,300 euros 73,500 euros
Approx. in rupees 76.7 lakh 76.8 lakh 78.1 lakh

How do Croatia MBBS fees sit next to the other partner countries? Our guide to the six year cost of MBBS in Europe puts the universities side by side, and the tuition fees overview lists them by fee.

At the European Central Bank rate of 22 October 2026, 72,000 euros is about 76.5 lakh rupees. Six year tuition in Croatia at 2026/2027 rates (euros) 72,000 72,000 73,200 Split Zagreb, paid at once Zagreb, two instalments 72,000 euros is about 76.5 lakh rupees at the ECB rate of 22 October 2026.

What are Croatia MBBS fees in rupees?

In rupees, Croatia MBBS fees are about 12.75 lakh a year at both schools, or about 12.96 lakh a year if you pay Zagreb in two instalments. Six years of tuition come to about 76.5 lakh. We converted at the European Central Bank's euro to rupee reference rate of 106.2490 rupees per euro on 22 October 2026.

Fee Billed amount Approx. in rupees
Split application fee (one time) 200 euros 21,250
Zagreb application fee (one time) 300 euros 31,900
Zagreb first tuition instalment to accept your place 2,500 euros 2.66 lakh
Zagreb semester instalment 6,100 euros 6.48 lakh
Tuition per year, either school 12,000 euros 12.75 lakh
Six years of tuition, either school 72,000 euros 76.5 lakh

Treat these rupee figures as a snapshot, not a quote. Your bank adds its own margin, and the rupee will move over six years. Because both schools bill only in euros, you track one exchange rate for the whole degree. Recheck it before every transfer.

Split or Zagreb: the fees side by side

The tuition is identical, so the small print decides how the Croatia MBBS fees feel in your family budget. Here's what each call says about the money around the tuition.

Point Split Zagreb
Application fee 200 euros, non-refundable, bank costs paid by the applicant 300 euros, all bank expenses covered by the applicant
First payment after acceptance Full first year tuition within one week of the electronic acceptance letter 2,500 euro first tuition instalment, non-refundable, by the date in the conditional Offer of Place
Later payments Annual fee of 12,000 euros 12,000 euros at once or 2 x 6,100 euros before each semester
Refunds Tuition is non-refundable First instalment is non-refundable
Selection Document review, then an online interview Online written exam in Biology, Chemistry and Physics

Split asks for less at the application stage and collects the first year in one go. Zagreb asks a little more to apply, but splits the start into a smaller deposit and lets you pay by semester for the rest of the course. Neither is cheaper over six years if you pay Zagreb at once.

Which one-time fees come before your first lecture?

Before you start, the only one-time fee at either school is the application fee: 200 euros at Split and 300 euros at Zagreb. Both are paid when you send your application, by bank transfer in euros, and both are kept even if you are not admitted.

The Zagreb application procedure page lists the 300 euro fee with the rest of the file: school certificates, a CV, photographs, a medical certificate of fitness to study medicine, passport copies, a birth certificate, an English certificate and a certified financial statement showing that you or your sponsor can pay for the studies. Split's 2026/2027 call page asks for the 200 euro fee, an application form, a CV, a motivation letter, proof of nationality, a birth certificate and school certificates.

Then comes the first tuition payment, which is where the two schools part ways. Zagreb's Offer of Place page says you accept a conditional offer by paying a non-refundable first instalment of 2,500 euros. Split's call says the whole first year fee is due within one week of the electronic letter of acceptance, and your place is confirmed once proof of payment arrives.

How do you pay tuition at Split and Zagreb?

You pay Croatia MBBS fees by international bank transfer in euros to the medical school's own account, and the applicant covers the bank charges. At Zagreb you choose between 12,000 euros once a year or 12,200 euros in two instalments of 6,100 euros, each paid before its semester begins. At Split the annual fee is 12,000 euros.

A few details help a family plan:

  • Bank charges are yours. Split's call says bank costs are paid by applicants, and Zagreb's account details carry the instruction that all expenses are covered by the applicant. Ask your bank for the full cost of each transfer.
  • The semester option costs 200 euros a year. At Zagreb, paying in two parts adds 200 euros a year, or 1,200 euros over six years. If your family can send the full year at once, that is the cheaper route.
  • The first payment stays with the school. Split's call says tuition is non-refundable, and Zagreb's 2,500 euro first instalment is non-refundable, so send it only when the decision is final.

Five reasons Croatia MBBS fees are easy to plan

Croatia MBBS fees are easy to plan because both schools publish one flat yearly rate in their calls for applications, before you apply. Here's what stood out when we read them:

  1. One flat yearly rate. Neither call sets a separate preclinical and clinical price: it's 12,000 euros a year at both schools.
  2. The same price in both cities. You can choose Split or Zagreb for the course and the city, not for the bill.
  3. A semester option at Zagreb. Two payments of 6,100 euros a year spread the load for families who prefer it.
  4. One currency. Everything is billed in euros, so you follow one exchange rate.
  5. Exams and interviews online. Zagreb runs its entrance exam online and Split invites shortlisted applicants to an online interview, so you can start the process from India without a flight.

What does admission look like at each school?

Zagreb admits through an online written entrance exam, while Split selects on your documents and an online interview. Neither call asks for a NEET score. For Indian applicants that means the admission step itself costs only the application fee and an internet connection.

Zagreb's entrance exam page describes 120 questions at high school level, 40 each in Biology, Chemistry and Physics. To pass you need at least 15 correct answers in each subject and 61 correct answers in total. Its admission requirements page listed five online exam dates for the 2026/2027 intake, from 12 January to 31 August 2026, and accepts TOEFL internet based 60, IELTS 6 or Duolingo 105 from applicants whose schooling was not in English.

Split asks for at least 12 years of previous education and a passed final school exam. Its call says applicants who meet the selection criteria are invited to an online interview, and that the deadline for the 2026/2027 summer term was 1 July 2026. Both schools also ask every candidate to register on Croatia's central admission portal, Postani Student.

The 2026/2027 deadlines have passed. Neither school has published its 2027/2028 call yet, so keep an eye on both admission pages and on our MBBS deadlines page. Our guide to the MBBS entrance exam in Europe shows how these tests compare.

What does Croatia ask for the student residence permit?

Non-EU students need an approval of temporary stay for study in Croatia. Croatia's Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs lists the conditions: proof of the purpose of stay, a valid travel document, means to support yourself, health insurance and proof of no criminal record when you apply for the first time.

The same page adds that a passport must stay valid for three months beyond the stay you ask for. Students who need a visa apply at a Croatian diplomatic mission, and those coming to study at a university may also apply at the local police. Split's information for new students walks through the first weeks in that city: get your OIB (personal identification number) at the tax office, arrange health insurance, then apply for temporary stay at the police with proof of enrolment from the student office. Visa holders start at the Croatian embassy or VFS visa centre before they fly.

These papers don't change the Croatia MBBS fees, but the "means to support yourself" part is real money your family shows on top of tuition. Our guides to proof of funds, the residence permit for MBBS students in Europe, the student visa for MBBS in Europe and health insurance show how families prepare them.

How does a Croatian degree fit the NMC rules?

India's Foreign Medical Graduate Licentiate Regulations 2021 (FMGL) are the National Medical Commission rules for Indians who study medicine abroad. They ask for a course of at least 54 months, an internship of at least 12 months at the same foreign institution, teaching in English, and registration to practise in the country that awards the degree.

Split and Zagreb both teach their six year Medical Studies in English in English. Before you send the first payment, check each FMGL condition for your own intake with the school and keep the written answer with your acceptance letter. It is a short step that protects a six year investment.

How do you plan your Croatia MBBS fees step by step?

Plan your Croatia MBBS fees in a fixed order: the exam first, then the application, then the money. Here's the sequence we suggest.

  1. Check where you stand for NEET if you plan to work in India later. NEETsheet explains the NEET qualifying marks, and its post on the NEET 2027 exam date helps you line up the exam with the Croatian calendar.
  2. Pick your school by course and city, since the tuition is the same, and watch both admission pages for the 2027/2028 call.
  3. Prepare an English certificate, your school transcripts with certified translations, and the medical certificate Zagreb asks for.
  4. Pay the application fee with your file: 200 euros at Split or 300 euros at Zagreb.
  5. Sit Zagreb's online exam or Split's online interview, and register on Postani Student.
  6. After acceptance, pay the first tuition money on time: the full first year within one week at Split, or the 2,500 euro first instalment at Zagreb.
  7. Prepare the residence papers: proof of means of support, health insurance, a police certificate and a passport valid three months beyond your stay.
  8. From year two, set a reminder before each semester and send each transfer a week early.
