European Medical Universities Accepting 2027 Applications

European medical universities still accepting applications on 5 October 2026 are taking students for 2027, not 2026. The September 2026 intakes have closed. Riga Stradiņš University in Latvia is the one partner university open for an earlier start. Indian citizens can apply for its February 2027 intake until 1 November 2026.

Which European medical universities are still accepting applications in October 2026?

Six partner universities have published dates for their next intake. Only one, RSU, is open today. The others open between November 2026 and spring 2027.

A deadline is the last day the university accepts an application. Most of these universities also hold an entrance exam or interview after the application, so the real work starts weeks earlier.

Riga Stradiņš University February 2027 intake

RSU is the only partner university with a February start. It plans 240 international Medicine places for February 2027, according to the RSU When to Apply page. RSU sets three application windows by citizenship. Indian citizens use the window for other non-EU applicants, which runs from 4 September to 1 November 2026.

Charles University Faculty of Medicine in Pilsen 2027 intake

Pilsen accepts applications for the 2027/28 academic year from 1 November 2026 to 30 April 2027, according to the Pilsen admission procedure page. The registration fee is CZK 990. The regular entrance exam is in Pilsen on 26 May 2027, with an alternative date on 28 June 2027. Legalised school documents must reach the faculty by 31 August 2027.

Pilsen allows one application per academic year. A student who fails the exam cannot retake it in the same year. More detail is on our Charles University Faculty of Medicine in Pilsen page.

Jessenius Faculty of Medicine in Martin 2027 exam dates

Jessenius, part of Comenius University, opens its application platform on 1 December 2026, according to the Jessenius application process page. It holds three exam dates for 2027/28, each with its own deadline. The application fee is EUR 70.

Hungary and Poland: Semmelweis, Debrecen and Poznań 2027 deadlines

• Semmelweis University, Budapest: the application deadline is 31 May 2027. Entrance exams run once or twice a week from early March to the end of June (Semmelweis General Medicine page). See our Semmelweis University page.

Which European medical universities have closed their 2026 intake?

The partner universities below have finished admissions for 2026. Their next intake is September 2027.

Why NEET UG 2026 families are looking at European medical universities

Qualifying NEET UG makes a student eligible for counselling. It does not guarantee a seat. The table compares the National Testing Agency (NTA) result with the seats counted by the NMC.

What does a European medical university cost per year?

First-year tuition at the universities open for 2027 ranges from about Rs. 12.4 lakh to Rs. 20.2 lakh. Rupee figures use the European Central Bank rate of EUR 1 = Rs. 108.12 on 2 October 2026 (ECB euro reference rate for the Indian rupee) and the Czech National Bank rate for the same day (CNB exchange rate fixing).

FMGE results for graduates of European medical universities

FMGE, the Foreign Medical Graduate Examination, is the exam a doctor trained abroad passes before working in India. The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) runs it. Nationally, 23.94 per cent passed in December 2025 and 18.62 per cent in June 2025, so roughly one in four and one in five (NBEMS FMGE Performance Report 2025).

These groups are small, so one candidate changes the percentage a lot. They show that only a small number of graduates from these EU countries sat FMGE in 2025. NMC rules for MBBS at a European medical university

The NMC sets the rules in the Foreign Medical Graduate Licentiate Regulations 2021, published on 18 November 2021. A graduate gets permanent registration in India only if the course meets each condition below.

• Course length: at least 54 months of study, completed within ten years of joining.

• Internship abroad: at least 12 months at the same foreign university that awards the degree.

• Same university throughout: no part of the course or internship can be done in India or in a third country. A transfer or exchange semester abroad can break this rule.

• English medium: the degree must be taught in English.

• Licence abroad: the graduate must be eligible to practise in the country that awards the degree.

• After return: pass FMGE, then a 12-month supervised internship in India.

How to apply to a European medical university for 2027

1. Pick the intake. February 2027 means RSU before 1 November 2026. Every other partner university starts in September 2027.

2. Get school documents legalised. Class 10 and 12 marksheets usually need an Apostille, an official stamp that makes an Indian document valid abroad. Our Apostille guide for MBBS in Europe explains the steps.

3. Apply online and pay the fee. Each university has its own portal and fee, for example CZK 990 at Pilsen and EUR 70 at Jessenius.

4. Sit the entrance exam or interview. Choose an early date if you can, so the visa has time.

What if you miss a 2027 deadline?

• You miss RSU on 1 November 2026: the next RSU window for Indian citizens is 1 March to 1 May 2027, for September 2027.

• You fail the Pilsen exam: Pilsen allows one attempt per academic year, so the next chance is the 2028 intake. Apply to a second university in the same year as well.

• You miss a Jessenius deadline: the next exam date in 2027 has its own deadline, so you can move to the June or August date.

Conclusion

On 5 October 2026 the 2026 intakes at European medical universities are closed. RSU's February 2027 intake is the only start before September 2027 that an Indian student can still apply for, until 1 November 2026. For September 2027, the first windows open at Pilsen on 1 November 2026 and at Jessenius on 1 December 2026.
