Palacky University admission for General Medicine 2027: the online exam in biology, chemistry and physics or maths, the 80 euro fee, tuition and visa steps.

Palacky University admission for General Medicine is an online entrance exam in biology, chemistry and either physics or mathematics, taken after you file an 80 euro application. For the September 2027 intake, applications are open from 1 November 2026 to 31 July 2027, and tuition is 12,500 euros a year.
That's the short answer, and the window is already open. Palacky University in Olomouc is the oldest university in Moravia, and its Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry teaches the whole six year degree in English. This guide walks an Indian student and their parents through every step, using the faculty's own pages read on 8 November 2026.
Key Takeaways
- The programme: General Medicine at Palacky University is a six year, full-time Master's degree taught in English that ends with the MUDr. (Doctor of Medicine) title. The faculty estimates 80 admissions.
- The window: applications for September 2027 run from 1 November 2026 to 31 July 2027. Non-EU applicants are advised to pick an exam date no later than May 2027.
- The exam: a test in biology, chemistry and your choice of physics or mathematics, taken online, once per academic year. Dates for 2027 are due by the end of 2026.
- The cost: an 80 euro application fee with no further exam fee, then 12,500 euros a year in tuition, about 13.1 lakh rupees at the ECB rate of 6 November 2026.
- The English rule: if your schooling was in English, you're exempt from English proof. Otherwise IELTS 6, TOEFL 87, PTE Academic 59, Cambridge FCE or the faculty's own test works.
When is the Palacky University application deadline for 2027?
The Palacky University application deadline for the September 2027 intake is 31 July 2027, and the window opened on 1 November 2026, according to the faculty's admissions page. The date that really counts, though, is your exam date: the complete application must be in at least two weeks before it.
Why not wait until July? The General Medicine page advises applicants from outside the EU to choose exam dates no later than May, because a Czech residence permit can take up to three months. So for an Indian student, the practical Palacky University timeline is shorter than the official one.
Here's how it looks on a calendar:
Why do Indian students choose Palacky University for medicine?
Palacky University is a public university in Olomouc, founded on 22 December 1573. Its basic information page calls it the second oldest university in the Czech Republic and the oldest in Moravia, with 23,132 students and 2,677 international students from 88 countries in 2025.
For a family in India, five things stand out:
- A fully English degree with a clear title. General Medicine runs six years, taught entirely in English, and ends with the MUDr. title after the final state examinations.
- Recognised quality. The faculty says its General Medicine programme has recently been accredited by the Association of Medical Schools in Europe (AMSE), and the admissions page says the faculty is accredited by a WFME-recognised authority.
- Guaranteed housing. International students are guaranteed a room in one of seven halls of residence for their entire studies. The university counts 4,485 dormitory beds across its campus.
- A whole final year on the wards. The sixth year is devoted to bedside training in internal medicine, surgery, gynaecology and obstetrics, with the University Hospital Olomouc linked from the faculty's own page.
- Predictable costs in euros. At 12,500 euros a year, Palacky University costs about half of the 24,250 euros charged by Charles University's First Faculty, the other euro-billing faculty in our Czech Republic MBBS fees comparison.
For the campus profile, see our Palacky University Faculty of Medicine page, and for the wider picture, our guide to MBBS in Czech Republic for Indian students.

What is the Palacky University entrance exam like?
The Palacky University entrance exam is a test paper in biology, chemistry and one more subject you choose: physics or mathematics. The admissions page says the exam is done online, and you can take it only once per academic year. Dates and venues for 2027 will be posted by the end of 2026.
The current pages don't print the scoring rules for 2027. The last full terms document the faculty has published, the Terms and Conditions of Admission Procedure 2024/2025, set out the format like this:
| Part | Format (2024/2025 terms) | Time | To pass |
|---|---|---|---|
| Biology | Multiple choice, 0, 1 or 2 points a question | 50 minutes | 165 percentage points in total across the three science tests |
| Chemistry | Multiple choice, 0, 1 or 2 points a question | 50 minutes | Counted in the same total |
| Physics or mathematics | Multiple choice, 0, 1 or 2 points a question | 50 minutes | Counted in the same total |
| English test | 50 multiple choice questions | 45 minutes | 60%, not part of the total score; many applicants are exempt |
| Interview | English, motivation and aptitude | Up to 20 minutes | Pass or fail, up to 30 points |
Treat that table as a guide to the style of the test, not as the 2027 rulebook. When the 2027 invitation arrives, it will confirm the date, time and permitted aids.
Here's the good news for a NEET aspirant: the syllabus is secondary school science, the same ground you cover for NEET. The faculty publishes free sample tests in biology, chemistry, physics and mathematics, plus a topics and recommended literature list. NEETsheet's NEET 2027 biology preparation strategy and NEET 2027 chemistry preparation strategy are a strong base for the two compulsory papers. Our guide to the MBBS entrance exam in Europe compares this test with other partner universities.
Should you choose physics or mathematics?
Choose the subject you score higher in on the faculty's sample tests. Palacky University lets every applicant pick physics or mathematics as the third paper, and the choice doesn't change which programme you're admitted to. That's a real advantage if physics is your weakest NEET subject.
A simple way to decide:
- Download both sample tests and sit each one under a 50 minute timer.
- Mark them honestly and compare your scores.
- If physics wins, NEETsheet's NEET 2027 physics preparation strategy keeps your revision doing double duty for NEET and Olomouc.
- If mathematics wins, revise your Class 11 and 12 maths with the sample test topics as your checklist.
Either way, you only sit one of the two. Pick early, so your weekly study plan has one clear target.
Do you need IELTS for Palacky University?
Usually not, if your schooling was in English. The General Medicine page says applicants whose secondary or tertiary education was in English are exempt from English proof. Everyone else shows Cambridge FCE, IELTS 6, TOEFL 87, PTE Academic 59, a psychometric test or passes the faculty's own English test.
For most CBSE and ISC students, that means no IELTS fee. Keep a letter from your school confirming English as the medium of instruction, and ask the faculty in writing whether it accepts it before you skip the test. The faculty also publishes an English sample test if you'd like to see the level. Our guide to MBBS in Europe without IELTS compares the English rules at other universities.

What documents do you need to apply?
You need proof of completed secondary education, or proof you're still in school, plus your passport and a motivation letter. The General Medicine page says applicants need three subjects at A-level standard or an equivalent completed secondary education, with no minimum grade, and you may apply before you finish school.
The 2024/2025 terms list the documents the faculty asked for in the last full cycle:
- Your school certificate. If you don't have it yet, a confirmation of enrolment from your school, with the final certificate following before studies start.
- An English certificate, marked optional, since the faculty can test you itself.
- A letter of motivation. Say why medicine, and why Olomouc.
- A passport copy of the photo page.
- A medical report, only if you need adjustments during the exam.

How do you apply to Palacky University, step by step?
You apply to Palacky University online through the university's study catalogue, pay the 80 euro fee and upload your documents at least two weeks before your chosen exam. Add the India-side checks and the full sequence for an Indian student looks like this:
- Check your NEET position first. NEETsheet explains the NEET qualifying marks and the NEET 2027 eligibility criteria, which matter if you plan to practise in India. Our guide on whether NEET is required for MBBS abroad explains why.
- Open the General Medicine application in the Palacky University study catalogue and create your account.
- Watch for the 2027 exam dates at the end of 2026 and pick one no later than May 2027.
- Upload your school documents, passport copy, motivation letter and any English certificate.
- Pay the 80 euro application fee online. It's non-refundable, and there's no further exam fee.
- Prepare with the sample tests in biology, chemistry and physics or mathematics, then sit the online exam.
- Once admitted, apply for your Czech long-term residence permit for study at the Czech embassy, with insurance and proof of funds.
- Book your room in a hall of residence, then travel to Olomouc for the September 2027 start.

How much does it cost to study medicine at Palacky University?
Studying General Medicine at Palacky University costs 12,500 euros a year in tuition, the figure on the faculty's General Medicine page. Before that you pay one 80 euro application fee. In rupees, at the ECB reference rate of 104.8645 rupees per euro on 6 November 2026, a year of tuition is about 13.1 lakh rupees.
| Payment | Euros | Rupees (ECB, 6 Nov 2026) |
|---|---|---|
| Application fee, once | 80 | about 8,400 |
| Tuition, one year | 12,500 | about 13.1 lakh |
| Tuition, six years | 75,000 | about 78.6 lakh |
| Czech long-term study visa, consular fee | 2,500 CZK (about 103 euros) | about 10,800 |
The six year line is our own multiplication of today's fee, so treat it as a planning figure. Fees are revised over time, and the rupee moves daily, which changes what your family pays. Our guide to the education loan for MBBS abroad explains how families usually plan these transfers from India.

What happens after your Palacky University offer?
After a Palacky University offer, your main job is the Czech residence paperwork, and the clock matters. A degree longer than one year needs a long-term residence permit for study, because the Czech long-term visa for studies is valid for one year at most. You can apply for the permit directly at a Czech embassy.
The Czech Interior Ministry's visa page lists what a study application asks for, and most of it carries over to the permit:
- Confirmation of studies from the faculty, in the original.
- Proof of accommodation, which your hall of residence booking covers.
- Proof of funds for your stay, or proof that someone will cover your costs.
- Travel medical insurance for the first 90 days, plus comprehensive insurance after that, or comprehensive cover for the whole stay.
- A criminal record extract from India, and parental consent if you're under 18.
The page gives a 2,500 CZK consular fee and a 60 day processing time for the visa, and says you register with the Foreign Police within 3 business days of arrival. That's why the faculty says non-EU applicants should test by May. Our guides to the student visa for MBBS in Europe, the residence permit for MBBS students and health insurance for MBBS students in Europe cover the paperwork step by step.
What is it like to study General Medicine in Olomouc?
General Medicine in Olomouc moves from science to patients in three stages. The first four semesters cover anatomy, biology, biochemistry, biophysics, histology and physiology. Semesters five to seven add pathology, microbiology and pharmacology. Clinical subjects follow, and the sixth year is spent entirely in bedside training.
Three details make daily life easier for an Indian student:
- Czech lessons are built in. You take compulsory Czech classes in the first three years, so you can talk with patients and ward staff once clinical work starts. Our guide to the local language for MBBS in Europe explains why this helps.
- Rooms are sorted. Two students usually share a room in the halls, with cooking facilities, internet and study areas.
- Credits travel. The course uses ECTS credits, so you can spend part of your studies at a partner university elsewhere in Europe.
Olomouc is a student city at heart. With more than 23,000 students at one university, you won't be the only newcomer in your first winter.
Does a Palacky University degree fit India's FMGL rules?
India's Foreign Medical Graduate Licentiate Regulations 2021 (FMGL) are the National Medical Commission rules for Indians who study medicine abroad. They ask for a course of at least 54 months, a 12 month internship in the same foreign institution, teaching in English, and a licence to practise in the country that awards the degree.
Palacky University's General Medicine runs six years in English, which covers the length and language conditions. The faculty doesn't say how its sixth year bedside training maps onto the FMGL internship condition, so ask in writing during your Palacky University admission and keep the reply with your offer letter. Our guides on checking NMC and WDOMS recognition and the FMG internship and registration explain what happens when you come home.
