Medical University of Bialystok Admission 2027 Guide

Medical University of Bialystok admission is a two part ranking you can complete from India: the grades in two of your science subjects are turned into points, and then you sit an online interview on Zoom worth up to 100 points. Admission for each October intake opens on 1 December and closes on 31 August.

The Medical University of Bialystok is a public medical university in north eastern Poland, and its English Division teaches a six year MD (Medicine) programme, the degree Indian families know as MBBS. Every fact below comes from the university's own pages, read on 7 November 2026.

Key Takeaways

  • The window: admission runs from 1 December to 31 August, with one intake a year that starts in October. In the 2026 cycle there were 19 interview dates between 20 January and 25 September.
  • The selection: two of biology, chemistry, physics and mathematics from your school certificate become points (CBSE A1 at 91 to 100 marks is worth 100), and you need at least 100 points to go forward.
  • The interview: held on Zoom, you choose two of the same four subjects, and your science knowledge and English are scored out of 100.
  • The English rule: Indian applicants need a B2 certificate, for example IELTS 5.5, TOEFL iBT 72 or PTE Academic 59. A medium of instruction letter is not accepted.
  • The money: a 200 euro admission fee only once you're invited to interview, then 15,100 euros for year one (about 15.8 lakh rupees), payable in two instalments.

What is the Medical University of Bialystok?

The Medical University of Bialystok is a Polish public medical university whose English Division has taught medicine in English for 21 years and has sent 15 classes of graduates into practice. It has international students from 47 countries, India among them, and is headquartered in an eighteenth century Baroque palace known as the "Versailles of the North".

The general information page describes the university as the best medical university in Poland in the nationwide Perspektywy ranking, in its own words, and lists the points that matter to a new student: small study groups, clinical training from the early years, modern teaching hospitals and living costs below Western Europe.

The Why MUB page adds two teaching hospitals and eight research units, including a Clinical Research Centre and a Centre for Medical Simulation. The campus, the hospitals, the dorms and the sports facilities all sit in the city centre, within walking distance of each other.

How does Medical University of Bialystok admission work?

Medical University of Bialystok admission ranks every candidate on a points list built from two parts. Part I is the points from two science grades on your school certificate, with a minimum of 100 points. Part II is the online interview, worth a maximum of 100 points. Your place on the ranking list decides admission.

The requirements page asks for a school leaving certificate that gives you the right to apply to university at home, with positive grades in two of four subjects: chemistry, biology, physics or mathematics. For an Indian student that is your Class 12 certificate.

Three details make the route friendly for Indian families:

  • You can apply before your board results. The FAQ confirms that predicted grades, or grades from the first semester of the final year, are accepted.
  • No fee to register. The 200 euro admission fee is charged only after your application passes the first check and you're invited to interview.
  • No MCAT. The requirements page states that the MCAT is not part of admission.

Candidates who are under 18 when they apply can still apply, with a signed statement of a legal representative and a birth certificate.

How are CBSE marks turned into points?

The Medical University of Bialystok converts Indian grades with its own published table. A1 (91 to 100 marks) gives 100 points, A2 (81 to 90) gives 90, B1 (71 to 80) gives 80, B2 (61 to 70) gives 75 and C1 (51 to 60) gives 65 points. Two subjects count, and the minimum total is 100 points.

The grading system table lists the Republic of India like this:

Indian grade Marks Points per subject
A1 91 to 100 100
A2 81 to 90 90
B1 71 to 80 80
B2 61 to 70 75
C1 51 to 60 65
C2 41 to 50 50
D 33 to 40 50
E1, E2 below 33 no points
Points per subject for Indian grades at the Medical University of Bialystok The Medical University of Bialystok converts Indian board grades into points per subject: A1 is worth 100 points, A2 90, B1 80, B2 75, C1 65, C2 50 and D 50. Two subjects count, and the minimum total is 100 points. 100 90 80 75 65 50 50 A1 A2 B1 B2 C1 C2 D Points per subject for an Indian board grade (two subjects count)
Source: Medical University of Bialystok, grading system table for the English-language MD (Republic of India), read on 7 November 2026.

What does that mean in practice? Two C2 grades (50 + 50) already reach the 100 point minimum, so the grade stage is a gate, not a wall. A student with A1 in biology and A2 in chemistry brings 190 points into the ranking. Pick the two subjects where your marks are highest, because those are the grades that are counted.

What happens in the Zoom interview?

The Medical University of Bialystok interview is an online conversation on Zoom in which you answer questions from two subjects you choose among chemistry, biology, mathematics and physics. The committee assesses your general knowledge and your fluency in English, and the maximum score is 100 points. Every session starts at 12:00 noon Polish time.

The interview page publishes sample questions for chemistry, biology, and maths with physics, and warns that the real questions are not limited to the samples. The how to apply page adds that you choose your interview date yourself in the online system once you qualify.

Set up the room the way the university asks:

  • A working webcam, microphone and internet connection. Run a test call the day before.
  • Light in front of you, not behind. Your camera should not face a window or lamp.
  • A pen and paper in case you want to note something down.
  • Nobody else in the room, and every other device and program switched off.
  • A valid passport, shown to the camera. The university may take your photo for identification.

Speak clearly and take a second before you answer. Thirty seconds of calm thinking beats a rushed guess.

Which English certificate does an Indian student need?

An Indian student needs an English certificate at B2 level or higher from the university's accepted list, even after studying in an English medium school. Accepted examples include IELTS with at least 5.5, TOEFL iBT with at least 72, PTE Academic with at least 59, and Cambridge B2 First or higher. A medium of instruction statement is not accepted.

The list of accepted English certificates also includes Trinity ISE II, TOEIC with set minimums per skill, LanguageCert B2 and an IB Diploma. The certificate rule doesn't apply to EU and EEA citizens, so it does apply to Indian passport holders.

IELTS 5.5 is a realistic target for most students from English medium schools. Book the test early, so the certificate is ready when you upload your file. Our guide to MBBS in Europe without IELTS shows how other partner universities handle English.

Which documents go into the application?

The Medical University of Bialystok asks for eight items in the online system, and one more that matters especially for India. Upload scans first. Originals or certified copies follow only after you pass the interview and receive the Promissory Letter of Enrollment.

The requirements page lists:

  1. The application form, downloaded from the online system with your photo, printed, signed by hand and uploaded.
  2. Your school leaving certificate with the two science subjects, apostilled. The page names India as a country from which an apostille is required.
  3. An eligibility declaration, only if your certificate doesn't say it gives the right to apply to university.
  4. The health certificate from the system, signed and stamped by your doctor. It can follow after the interview.
  5. A copy of your passport photo page.
  6. A copy of medical insurance valid in Poland.
  7. Your B2 English certificate.
  8. A NAWA recognition statement for your school certificate.

NAWA is Poland's National Agency for Academic Exchange. Since 1 July 2025 its director issues recognition statements for foreign school certificates, and India is not on the list of countries whose certificates are exempt. The NAWA page on secondary school certificates explains how to apply. Our guide to apostille for MBBS in Europe covers the Indian side of the paperwork.

How do you apply, step by step?

You apply to the Medical University of Bialystok entirely online, in eight steps from account to arrival. The order matters, because you're invited to the interview only after your submitted application has been checked.

  1. Check your NEET plan first. Indian students need to qualify NEET for a foreign medical degree to count in India, so plan your NEET 2027 attempt alongside this application.
  2. Read the requirements and watch the tutorial on the online candidate system, then register with an email address you'll use for the whole process.
  3. Fill in every field and upload your documents, then press APPLY. An application that isn't submitted isn't evaluated.
  4. Wait for the evaluation email. If you don't hear back within a few days, write to admission@umb.edu.pl.
  5. Pay the 200 euro admission fee (or 225 US dollars) once you're invited, and choose one of the interview dates in the system.
  6. Sit the Zoom interview with your two chosen subjects.
  7. Send your originals or certified copies after you receive the Promissory Letter of Enrollment, and apply for a dorm room.
  8. Join the mandatory pre-course in September, then the welcome meeting before classes start in October.

When are the 2027 dates?

For the October 2027 intake, Medical University of Bialystok admission opens on 1 December 2026 and closes on 31 August 2027, following the window stated in the FAQ. The 2027 interview dates were not yet published on 7 November 2026; for 2026 the university held 19 interview dates and at least one a month from January to August.

Here is how the 2026/2027 cycle ran, as a planning reference:

Event 2026/2027 cycle

Why Indian students pick Bialystok

The Medical University of Bialystok combines a compact, walkable campus with external quality marks that go beyond Poland. Its English medicine programme is accredited by the Medical Council of Thailand until 13 December 2028, and the university received an ASPIRE certificate of merit for student engagement in 2022.

The international accreditations page lists both, and the international rankings page adds the research side:

  • Shanghai subject rankings. In GRAS 2025 the university placed 301 to 400 worldwide in Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences and in Human Biological Sciences.
  • Times Higher Education. It is ranked 1201 to 1500 in the THE World University Rankings, and 801 to 1000 in Medical and Health.
  • Clinical training from early on, in the university's two teaching hospitals and its Centre for Medical Simulation.
  • Real support for a newcomer. A Welcome Centre helps with the city office, renting a flat and doctor's appointments, and free psychological counselling is available in English with a native speaker clinical psychologist.
  • A soft landing. The university runs a free bus from central Warsaw to Bialystok for new students and their families, and the campus has bilingual Polish and English signs plus its own mobile app.

Our Medical University of Bialystok profile has more on the campus, and the Poland country page compares it with the other Polish universities. For the same process at its sister partners, read our Medical University of Lodz admission and Poznan University of Medical Sciences admission guides.

Getting ready for the interview as a NEET student

A NEET student is already preparing for most of the Medical University of Bialystok interview. The questions are school level science in two subjects you choose, and your NCERT base covers them. What needs extra practice is answering out loud, in English, to a person on a screen.

A six week plan that fits around NEET revision:

  1. Download the sample questions for your two subjects from the interview page and answer each one in writing first.
  2. Keep your NCERT base strong. NEETsheet's NEET 2027 biology preparation strategy, chemistry preparation strategy and physics preparation strategy serve both exams at once.
  3. Explain one concept a day aloud in two or three clear English sentences, to a friend or a recording.
  4. Prepare a short answer on why medicine and why Bialystok, about a minute long, in case the conversation turns to motivation.
  5. Do a mock call with a teacher on video, with your camera, light and passport set up exactly as on the day.

Our guide to the MBBS entrance exam in Europe shows how this interview format compares with written tests at other universities.

Visa and residence card after acceptance

After acceptance, an Indian student applies for a Polish national student visa (type D, annotation 09) at the Polish consulate, then for a temporary residence permit in Poland. The university can issue a document confirming enrolment on request, and the visa itself is the student's own task.

The EU Immigration Portal page for students in Poland gives the official figures: an 80 euro visa fee, a decision within 30 days of a complete application, a passport valid at least three months beyond the visa, and health insurance (public insurance in Poland, or travel medical insurance of at least 30,000 euros). The first residence permit for studies is granted for 15 months and costs 340 PLN in stamp duty plus 100 PLN for the card. Consulate appointments are booked through the Polish government visa page.

The university's visa information page says to apply for the residence permit online, well before your visa ends, since the process can take a long time. A visa that covers the whole stay means you don't need the card at all. Our guides to the student visa for MBBS in Europe and the residence permit for MBBS students walk through each document.

Does a Medical University of Bialystok MD fit India's FMGL rules?

India's Foreign Medical Graduate Licentiate Regulations 2021 ask for a course of at least 54 months, a 12 month internship in the same foreign institution, English as the medium of instruction, registration to practise in the country of study, then a 12 month supervised internship in India and the licensing test. The six year English MD meets the length and language parts.

How the Polish licence and internship steps line up with the FMGL internship and registration conditions is the question to settle in writing before you enrol. Our guides on how to check NMC and WDOMS recognition and on FMG internship and registration cover the return to India, and our post on working as a doctor in Poland covers staying on.

For the NEET side, our post on whether NEET is required for MBBS abroad explains the rule, and NEETsheet's guide to the NEET 2027 eligibility criteria covers age and subject requirements. The pre-course includes 18 hours of Polish, and our post on local language for MBBS in Europe explains why that helps on the wards.
