Which courses does Uzhhorod National University teach in English?
UzhNU lists three medical programmes in English for foreign students (UzhNU study programmes in English). Medicine sits in the Faculty of Medicine No. 2. Its six-year length comes from the faculty itself (Faculty of Medicine No. 2).
Programme in English | Faculty | Degree |
|---|---|---|
Medicine (code 222) | Faculty of Medicine No. 2 | Master's, six years |
Dentistry (code 221) | Institute of Dentistry and Laboratory Medicine | Master's |
Pharmacy, Industrial Pharmacy (code 226) | Pharmacy programme | Master's |
Preparatory department | For students who need a foundation year | No degree |
Nursing is taught in Ukrainian at UzhNU, not in English. An Indian student who wants to practise in India should look only at the English-medium Medicine programme.

Uzhhorod National University fees for 2026 to 2027
UzhNU publishes one fee table for foreign students, in US dollars, for full-time study (UzhNU fees for foreign students, 2026 to 2027).
Programme (English medium) | Year 1 | Year 2 | Years 3 to 6 |
|---|---|---|---|
Medicine | USD 3,500 | USD 3,800 | USD 3,800 a year |
Dentistry, Pharmacy, Industrial Pharmacy | USD 3,300 | USD 3,500 | USD 3,500 a year |
Preparatory department | USD 1,500 | Not offered | Not offered |
At these rates, six years of Medicine in English come to about USD 22,500 in tuition. For comparison, the Ukrainian-medium Medicine programme costs USD 3,000 in year one and USD 3,200 a year after that. Fees for later years can change, so the published table is the figure to plan with.
Hostel charges, insurance, visa and residence permit costs come on top. UzhNU does not list them on its fee page, so plan for them separately. Our web story on what to sort before leaving for MBBS abroad lists the usual costs.

What NMC rules would an Uzhhorod National University student have to meet?
NMC, the National Medical Commission, is India's medical regulator. Students who join a foreign medical course now follow the NMC Foreign Medical Graduate Licentiate (FMGL) Regulations 2021 (NMC FMGL Regulations 2021). Our guide on which NMC rules apply to you explains them in full.
FMGL rule | What it means at UzhNU |
|---|---|
Course of at least 54 months | The six-year Medicine programme meets the length rule |
12-month internship at the same foreign university | The internship must also be done through UzhNU |
Teaching in English | Only the English-medium Medicine programme can count |
Whole course at the same institution, outside India | No part of the training can be done in India or a third country |
Licence to practise in Ukraine | The graduate must be registered to practise in Ukraine, on par with a Ukrainian citizen |
Finish within ten years of joining | The whole course must be completed within ten years |
FMGE, then 12-month supervised internship in India | Both come after graduation, before full registration in India |
UzhNU students also sit Ukraine's licensing exams during the course: Krok 1 in year 3, Krok 2 in year 6, the International Foundations of Medicine exam and a professional English exam (Faculty of Medicine No. 2).
NMC online study rule for Uzhhorod National University students
UzhNU's foreign students office offers online admission alongside an online study programme (UzhNU online admission page). This matters for India. On 18 March 2026, NMC clarified how online study counts for foreign medical graduates (NMC public notice of 18 March 2026). Our web story on the NMC online classes rule gives the short version.
Online time must be made up in person. Any theory, practical or internship period taught online must be compensated by physical attendance at the parent foreign university.
The university must arrange it. This can be through extra classes or a longer course.
A compensatory certificate is needed. The graduate shows a certificate from the university, with transcripts, confirming the online part was made up in person.
Otherwise, clerkship in India. A graduate who studied online in the last two years and did not make it up must complete one or two years of clerkship in India.
