Lviv National Medical University (full name Danylo Halytsky Lviv National Medical University) is a state medical university in Lviv, western Ukraine. Lviv National Medical University admission 2026 for Indian students

The university's admission rules for foreigners set these dates for 2026 (admission rules for foreigners, 2026). Admission can be done in person or remotely.

An Indian applicant must first qualify NEET UG. The university's admission guide says Indian applicants are admitted only with a NEET certificate (university admission information for foreign applicants). How to apply to Lviv National Medical University, step by step

1. Ask for a preliminary decision. Email a copy of the passport and the Class 12 certificate with marks to the Faculty of Foreign Students at dep_foreign_students@meduniv.lviv.ua (admission information).

2. Apply for an electronic invitation. Create an account on Ukraine's official Study in Ukraine application portal and choose the university. The invitation is valid for up to six months.

3. Legalise documents. Class 12 documents must carry an apostille and a notarised Ukrainian translation.

4. Sit the entrance test. There are two tests: English (or Ukrainian) and Chemistry. Each is scored from 100 to 200, and each counts for half the final score.

5. Arrange the visa and residence permit. Students enter on a D visa. They then apply for a temporary residence permit at least 15 working days before the visa ends (university visa and residence permit guide).

Lviv National Medical University fees for 2026 to 2027

The university's 2026 to 2027 fee list for foreign students sets these tuition fees (fee list for 2026 to 2027). Fees are set in US dollars. They are paid in hryvnia at the bank rate on the day, or in dollars or euros from abroad.

A higher fee applies to what the fee list calls an individual programme: US$ 6,500 a year for Medicine in English. Classes missed without a valid reason are charged separately, at 30 to 60 hryvnia per academic hour. Tuition does not include food, travel, visa or insurance. Language of teaching at Lviv National Medical University

Foreign students can study Medicine in English or in Ukrainian. English-medium teaching began in 1997 (Faculty of Foreign Students page). The university says over 80% of its foreign students now study in English (university profile page). The Faculty of Foreign Students includes a Department of Ukrainian Studies and Philosophy.

This matters under Indian rules. The NMC FMGL Regulations 2021 require the whole course to be taught in English (NMC FMGL Regulations 2021). FMGL means Foreign Medical Graduate Licentiate, the rules India uses to accept a foreign medical degree. An Indian student should join the English-medium track.

Is Lviv National Medical University safe during the war in 2026?

Ukraine has been under martial law since Russia's full-scale invasion in February 2022. On 14 July 2026 Ukraine's parliament extended martial law by a further 90 days from 2 August 2026, citing continuing armed aggression (Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine notice of 14 July 2026).

• Embassy advisory: on 25 October 2022 the Embassy of India in Kyiv advised all Indian citizens in Ukraine to leave by available means (Embassy of India advisory of 25 October 2022). As of 30 September 2026 it is still the latest entry on the embassy's Ukraine crisis advisory page.

• Advice for new students: the embassy's advisory for prospective Indian students says NEET is mandatory to study medicine abroad. It asks students not to rely on recruiters' promises and to judge a university on all relevant factors (Embassy of India advisory for prospective Indian students).

• Registration: the embassy asks all Indian students in Ukraine to register on the MEA MADAD portal (Embassy of India student registration page).

How the university handles air-raid alerts

The university has published a set procedure for air-raid alerts (university air-raid alert procedure). When an alert sounds, classes stop at once, both in person and online. Staff move students to a shelter. Students on the way to class go to the nearest shelter and tell their group leader. Classes resume after the all-clear, and missed material is added to the next class and posted on the university's MISA distance-learning platform.

Teaching for the 2026 to 2027 year is running. The university has published English-medium Medicine timetables for the autumn semester, which runs from 1 September to 21 December 2026 for sixth-year students (Faculty of Foreign Students timetables, first semester 2026 to 2027).

Lviv National Medical University campus, hospitals and hostels

The university has 15 teaching buildings, 9 hostels, a simulation training centre, a scientific library of about 650,000 items and a botanical garden (university profile page). Its own clinical base is a Dental Medical Centre handling about 1,480 visits a shift. Clinical departments work in hospitals in Lviv, Lutsk, Rivne and Truskavets.

The university also works with the Military Medical Clinical Centre of the Western Region. Staff of the surgery and trauma departments treat wounded soldiers and civilians there. Lviv National Medical University FMGE pass rate

FMGE, the Foreign Medical Graduate Examination, is the test a doctor trained abroad must pass to work in India. NBEMS, the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences, runs it and publishes results by university (NBEMS FMGE page). These are the official figures for Danylo Halytsky Lviv National Medical University graduates.

NMC rules that apply to Lviv National Medical University graduates

India's National Medical Commission (NMC) sets the rules in the FMGL Regulations 2021 (NMC FMGL Regulations 2021). A foreign degree counts in India only if all of these are met:

• Course length: at least 54 months of study, finished within ten years of joining. The university's Medicine course runs 5 years 10 months.

• Internship abroad: a 12-month internship at the same foreign university.

• Language: the whole course taught in English.

• Licence: registration to practise medicine in the country that awarded the degree, on the same terms as its citizens.

• After return: pass FMGE, then a 12-month supervised internship in India.

1. Security: Ukraine's martial law currently runs to the end of October 2026, after its latest 90-day extension. The Indian embassy's standing advice is to leave Ukraine. Classes stop during air-raid alerts.

2. FMGE results: 55.93% in December 2025, well above the Ukraine average of 21.48%. It was the highest December 2025 rate of any Ukrainian university with at least 20 candidates.
