Lithuania MBBS Fees 2026: LSMU Kaunas Costs in Rupees

Lithuania MBBS fees at the Lithuanian University of Health Sciences (LSMU) in Kaunas are 12,800 euros a year for years one to three and 13,300 euros a year for years four to six of the Medicine degree in English, in 2026/2027. That is about 13.6 to 14.1 lakh rupees a year, and six years of tuition add up to 78,300 euros.

This guide reads the Lithuania MBBS fees straight from LSMU's own pages: the yearly tuition, what six years cost in euros and rupees, the small one-time fees, the deposit that holds your seat, how you pay each semester, and the money Lithuania's residence permit asks you to show. If you're a NEET student or a parent sorting out the money side of an MBBS in Europe, this page is for you.

Key Takeaways

  • Two fixed rates. LSMU charges 12,800 euros a year for Medicine in years one to three and 13,300 euros a year in years four to six (2026/2027).
  • Six years cost 78,300 euros in tuition. That is about 83.1 lakh rupees at the European Central Bank rate of 21 October 2026.
  • Small one-time fees. The first review of your application is free; you pay a 150 euro application fee and a 250 euro registration fee only as you move forward.
  • Half a year's fee holds your seat. Non-EU Medicine students pay a deposit equal to half the yearly tuition, 6,400 euros at the 2026/2027 rate.
  • A NEET score of 650 can skip the entrance test. LSMU lists NEET 650 among the scores that exempt applicants from its own test.

What are the Lithuania MBBS fees at LSMU?

Lithuania MBBS fees at LSMU are 12,800 euros a year in study years one to three and 13,300 euros a year in years four to six, for the 2026/2027 academic year. LSMU bills in euros. Medicine there is a six year, 360 ECTS degree that ends with an MSc in Health Sciences and the professional qualification of Medical Doctor, the degree Indian students call MBBS.

The LSMU tuition fees page states that its fees apply to the 2026/2027 academic year, and the LSMU Medicine programme page repeats the same two rates. Here's how the Medicine fee runs across the course:

Study year Annual tuition (2026/2027) Approx. in rupees
Year 1 12,800 euros 13.6 lakh
Year 2 12,800 euros 13.6 lakh

Year 6 13,300 euros 14.1 lakh

So the step up in Lithuania MBBS fees between the preclinical and the clinical years is 500 euros a year, and it is published in advance. You know the clinical year price on the day you apply. Our page on the Lithuanian University of Health Sciences covers the campus and the course itself.

What are Lithuania MBBS fees in rupees?

In rupees, Lithuania MBBS fees are about 13.6 lakh a year in years one to three and about 14.1 lakh a year in years four to six. Six years of tuition come to about 83.1 lakh. We converted at the European Central Bank's euro to rupee reference rate of 106.1265 rupees per euro on 21 October 2026.

Fee Billed amount Approx. in rupees
Application fee (one time) 150 euros 15,900
Registration fee (one time) 250 euros 26,500
Deposit for non-EU Medicine students 6,400 euros 6.8 lakh
Tuition, years 1 to 3 (each year) 12,800 euros 13.6 lakh
Tuition, years 4 to 6 (each year) 13,300 euros 14.1 lakh
Six years of tuition 78,300 euros 83.1 lakh

Treat these rupee figures as a snapshot, not a quote. Your bank adds its own margin, and the rupee will move over six years. Because LSMU bills only in euros, you watch one exchange rate for the whole degree. Recheck it before each payment.

Which one-time fees come before your first lecture?

Before you start, LSMU charges a 150 euro application fee, a 250 euro registration fee and a deposit. Both fees are non-refundable, and each is invoiced only after you clear the step before it. The LSMU admission process page sets out all ten steps.

Step What you pay When
First review of your application Nothing LSMU replies within 72 hours of submission
Application fee 150 euros, non-refundable After positive feedback on your documents
Entrance test No separate fee listed Interview plus Biology and Chemistry test, or exemption
Registration fee 250 euros, non-refundable After your offer letter
Deposit Half the yearly tuition (6,400 euros) With the study contract, to confirm your place

The order keeps Lithuania MBBS fees low risk at the start. LSMU checks your documents and tells you whether you're eligible before you pay anything, so a family never spends money on an application that was never going to qualify. The admission page also promises feedback within 72 hours, a choice of entrance test time, and test results on the next day.

Non-EU students in Medicine, Odontology, Pharmacy and Veterinary Medicine pay a deposit equal to half the yearly tuition. For most other LSMU programmes, non-EU students pay the full yearly fee as the deposit, so Medicine students put down a smaller share up front.

Can a NEET score save you the entrance test?

Yes. LSMU exempts applicants from its own entrance test when they hold a qualifying score in a recognised exam, and NEET is on the list with a minimum score of 650. Without that score, you sit an online interview and a multiple choice test of 30 Biology and 30 Chemistry questions at school level.

This rule sits next to the Lithuania MBBS fees on the same admission page, and it is one of the friendliest for Indian students. A strong NEET result does double duty: it keeps you eligible for India and it can replace the LSMU test. NEETsheet's guide to NEET marks vs rank helps you see where a 650 sits.

How do you pay tuition at LSMU?

You pay Lithuania MBBS fees by bank transfer in euros to LSMU's account at AB SEB bank, quoting your name and payment code. The exact terms are written into your individual study contract. In every upper year, the annual fee is paid in two parts: before 25 October for the autumn semester and before 20 March for the spring semester.

A few details from the fees page help a family plan:

  • Bank charges are yours. The applicant covers all bank charges, so ask your bank for the full cost of each transfer and send a little extra time ahead.
  • The fee covers the teaching. Library, lecture rooms, laboratories, clinics and equipment, scheduled lectures, practicals, seminars, clinical practice, weekly tutorials and the tests of your knowledge are all included.
  • Only repeats cost extra. An additional fee applies if a student has to repeat a course. Pass your modules on time and the published fee is the academic bill.

Five reasons LSMU fees are easy to plan

Lithuania MBBS fees are easy to plan because LSMU publishes every rate and every step before you apply. Here's what stood out when we read its pages:

  1. Two rates, set in advance. One price for years one to three and one for years four to six, both on the 2026/2027 fee list.
  2. No fee to find out if you qualify. The first review of your application and the eligibility feedback are free.
  3. Payment split by semester. In the upper years you pay before 25 October and before 20 March, never a whole year in one transfer.
  4. One currency. Everything is billed in euros, so you follow one exchange rate.
  5. Much of the learning in a teaching hospital. LSMU says its students build clinical skills in the largest clinical hospital in the Baltic States, in clinical groups of up to 10 students, and its Medicine page shows international WFME accreditation.

What money does the Lithuanian residence permit ask for?

Non-EU degree students need a Temporary Residence Permit (TRP) for their studies in Lithuania, and the application asks for a bank statement showing at least 6,918 euros from 1 January 2026, plus health insurance for at least one year. That is about 7.3 lakh rupees you show, separate from the tuition you pay.

LSMU's TRP guide for 2026 lists the documents for a first year student:

  • a valid passport;
  • a mediation letter from the university, usually issued in 3 to 7 working days;
  • a bank statement in Lithuanian or English, at least 6,918 euros;
  • health insurance valid for the whole permit period or at least one year;
  • a certificate on conviction or non-conviction from the countries where you lived in the past 2 years, apostilled and issued no more than 6 months before you apply;
  • your confirmation that you will declare your place of residence in Kaunas.

The state fee for the permit is 160 euros in the general procedure (decision within 2 months) or 320 euros in the urgent procedure (within 1 month). Good news for Indian families: India is one of the 30 countries where you can hand in the TRP application at a VFS Global centre before you fly, and once the permit is granted the card may be sent to you abroad, so you can arrive already holding it. Permits are usually issued for 2 years and renewed, with the renewal filed 4 months before expiry.

Our guides to the residence permit for MBBS students in Europe, proof of funds and health insurance for MBBS students in Europe show how families prepare these papers.

When do you apply for the 2027 intake?

LSMU opens its online application for the 2027 intake on 1 November 2026, starts reviewing applications on 10 November 2026, runs entrance tests and interviews from 12 January to 15 July 2027, and closes applications on 6 July 2027. Studies begin on 1 September, with a registration week just before.

LSMU recommends applying early, because applications after the deadline are considered only if places are still free. Our MBBS deadlines page keeps the dates in one place, and our guide to MBBS in Lithuania for Indian students covers the wider admission picture.

How does an LSMU degree fit the NMC rules?

India's Foreign Medical Graduate Licentiate Regulations 2021 (FMGL) are the National Medical Commission rules for Indians who study medicine abroad. They ask for a course of at least 54 months, an internship of at least 12 months at the same foreign institution, teaching in English, and registration to practise in the country that awards the degree.

LSMU's Medicine course runs six years in English. Before you pay the deposit, check each FMGL condition for your own intake with the university and keep the written answer with your study contract. It is a short step that protects a six year investment.

How do you plan your Lithuania MBBS fees step by step?

Plan your Lithuania MBBS fees in a fixed order: the exam first, then the application, then the money. Here's the sequence we suggest.

  1. Check where you stand for NEET. NEETsheet explains the NEET qualifying marks, and its post on the NEET 2027 exam date helps you line up your timetable with LSMU's application window.
  2. Get your school certificates apostilled, because LSMU asks applicants from Hague Convention countries such as India for an Apostille. Our apostille guide walks through it.
  3. Apply online from 1 November 2026 and wait for the free eligibility feedback.
  4. Pay the 150 euro application fee, then sit the entrance test or claim the NEET exemption.
  5. After your offer letter, pay the 250 euro registration fee and sign the study contract.
  6. Pay the deposit of half a year's tuition, 6,400 euros at the 2026/2027 rate, by the date in your contract.
  7. Prepare the TRP file: the 6,918 euro bank statement, one year of health insurance and the 160 euro state fee.
  8. From year two, put 25 October and 20 March in your calendar and send each transfer a week early.
