MBBS in Georgia costs 5,000 to 8,000 dollars a year in tuition. University by university fees from official pages, living costs, visa steps, documents and a six year budget in rupees.

Georgia MBBS fees for 2026-27 sit between 5,000 and 8,000 US dollars a year in tuition at the main English medium medical programmes, which is roughly Rs 4.7 lakh to Rs 7.6 lakh a year at about Rs 95 to a dollar in October 2026. Six years of tuition therefore runs from around Rs 28 lakh to Rs 45 lakh, before hostel and food. The university by university figures, taken from each university's own fee page, are below.
Key takeaways on Georgia MBBS fees 2026-27
Tuition at the eight universities with published fees ranges from 5,000 dollars a year at Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University to 8,000 dollars a year at Tbilisi State Medical University and Tbilisi State University.
The degree is a six year Medical Doctor (MD) programme of 360 ECTS credits, which the NMC treats as MBBS equivalent when it meets the FMGL Regulations 2021.
Georgia's universities do not publish hostel prices on their fee pages. University Geomedi's own estimate of living costs is 600 to 700 dollars a month, about Rs 57,000 to Rs 66,000.
Most universities run two intakes, in late September and in March. Tbilisi State University and David Tvildiani Medical University state a NEET requirement for Indian citizens on their admission pages; NMC rules make NEET compulsory for every Indian student in any case.
A realistic six year budget including tuition, living costs and two flights a year lands between Rs 70 lakh and Rs 95 lakh depending on the university and the city.
What are the Georgia MBBS fees 2026-27, university by university?
Every figure in this table is the fee currently published on the university's own website, checked on 23 October 2026. Universities in Georgia quote fees in US dollars, and most take payment in two instalments a year. The rupee column uses about Rs 95 to a dollar, the market rate in the third week of October 2026, and rounds to the nearest half lakh.
University | City | Annual tuition (USD) | Annual tuition (approx. INR) | Six year tuition (USD) | Six year tuition (approx. INR) |

Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University, Medical Doctor (English) | Batumi | 5,000 | Rs 4.7 lakh | 30,000 | Rs 28.5 lakh |
Tbilisi State Medical University also runs a separate American MD programme at 13,500 dollars a year, about Rs 12.8 lakh, which is a different track from the standard MD course and priced accordingly. David Tvildiani Medical University and Akaki Tsereteli State University in Kutaisi do not publish a tuition figure on their websites, so they are not in the table; both quote the fee in the admission offer. European University's fee page states 5,500 dollars a year for a six year course but is not linked here because the page could not be opened reliably at the time of checking.
What is the Georgian MD degree and how long does it take?
The programme is a single-cycle Medical Doctor degree of six years (twelve semesters), worth 360 ECTS credits, at Tbilisi State University, Caucasus University, and New Vision University. There is no separate internship year as in India; the clinical rotations sit inside the six years. The NMC's FMGL Regulations 2021 FAQ sets the conditions a foreign course must meet for an Indian student to qualify for registration at home: a minimum course duration of 54 months, a minimum twelve month internship in the same foreign institution, English as the medium of instruction, and registration with the professional regulator of that country on par with its own citizens. A six year Georgian MD covers the 54 months comfortably. Whether the twelve month internship is completed inside the six years in Georgia is a question to put to the specific university in writing, with the answer kept on file, because it decides your FMGE eligibility later. The university pages in our Georgia section, such as Tbilisi State Medical University and New Vision University, set out the course structure for each one.

Who is eligible for MBBS in Georgia?
Indian students need three things: a Class 12 pass with Physics, Chemistry and Biology, a NEET UG qualification, and the English level and interview the university asks for. The NEET requirement comes from NMC rules rather than from Georgia, and it applies even where a university's page does not mention it; the eligibility certificate rules for MBBS abroad explain how NMC checks it. NEETsheet's guide to the NEET qualifying marks gives the category wise percentile you need, and its NEET 2027 eligibility criteria post covers age and attempts for students planning the 2027 intake.
The university side varies more than families expect. Tbilisi State University asks for a NEET certificate for Indian citizens, English at B2 and a Skype interview. David Tvildiani Medical University asks for a NEET pass certificate, at least 60 per cent in Chemistry and Biology, English at B1 and an online interview. Tbilisi State Medical University asks for the high school certificate with proof of the last two years of schooling, English at B1 and a Zoom interview. New Vision University asks for B2 English and lists MCAT or a Biology and Chemistry knowledge certificate. The University of Georgia asks for a passport, the school certificate, a two minute video and a photo, with a 170 dollar application fee that is waived if you submit Georgian translations and the regulator's 250 lari fee receipt.
How does admission to a Georgian medical university work?
Qualify NEET UG. Keep the scorecard, because the university, the Georgian ministry and later the NMC all rely on it.
Apply to the university online with your passport, Class 10 and Class 12 certificates and mark sheets, a passport photo, and the English certificate or a request for the university's own test. Most universities have no fixed deadline and accept applications year round for the September and March intakes; New Vision University states that registration is always open.
Attend the online interview and receive the offer letter, which states the fee.
Apply for enrolment without the Georgian Unified National Examinations. Foreign students are admitted under a Ministry of Education order, processed through the National Center for Educational Quality Enhancement. The file holds your school certificate and transcript with notarised translations, proof of the last two years of study, a passport copy and the university's written consent. The fee is 30 lari for the regular one month procedure or 60 lari for the 15 working day expedited one.
Pay the first tuition instalment once the ministry order is issued, and collect the Ministry order on enrolment plus the order confirming the university's accreditation and English faculty. Both are visa documents.
Apply for the D3 study visa through the Georgian e-visa portal or the embassy, with the admission letter, the two ministry orders, travel insurance for the visa period, proof of funds or three months of bank statements, proof of accommodation and the visa fee shown on the portal.
Fly before the semester starts in late September or early to mid March, and apply for the residence permit after arrival.
What are the living costs in Georgia for an Indian medical student?
Georgia's statistics office puts the subsistence minimum for a working age man at 283 lari in December 2025, about Rs 10,300, which is the official floor for food and essentials rather than a student budget. The only university that publishes a student living estimate is University Geomedi, which advises 600 to 700 dollars a month, about Rs 57,000 to Rs 66,000, for rent, food and transport in Tbilisi. Geomedi does not run a hostel; European University describes a 250 bed dormitory with two person rooms and Tbilisi State Medical University's dormitory is still under construction, and none of the eight universities prints a dormitory price on its site. Plan on the Geomedi figure for Tbilisi and somewhat less in Batumi and Kutaisi, and ask the admissions office for the current rent of the flats it recommends before you pay a deposit. Our guide to the money needed for MBBS abroad lists what to arrange before departure, and the web story on money rules for MBBS abroad covers remittance limits in a quick read.

What does the six year budget look like at two universities?
The table takes the published tuition, the Geomedi living estimate of 650 dollars a month for ten months a year, two return flights a year at about 50,000 rupees each, and a one time allowance of about Rs 1.5 lakh for the visa, insurance, document translations and the first month's deposit. Everything is converted at Rs 95 to a dollar.
Cost head over six years | Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University | Tbilisi State Medical University |
|---|---|---|
Tuition | 30,000 dollars, about Rs 28.5 lakh | 48,000 dollars, about Rs 45.5 lakh |
Living costs at 650 dollars a month, ten months a year | 39,000 dollars, about Rs 37 lakh | 39,000 dollars, about Rs 37 lakh |
Flights, two a year | About Rs 6 lakh | About Rs 6 lakh |
Visa, insurance, translations, deposits | About Rs 1.5 lakh | About Rs 1.5 lakh |
Total | About Rs 73 lakh | About Rs 90 lakh |
The living line is the same in both columns because Geomedi's figure is a Tbilisi estimate; Batumi is a smaller city and a student who shares a flat there will usually spend less. The point of the table is that tuition is only about 40 to 50 per cent of the real six year cost, which is the number a family needs when it sits down with a bank. Our post on education loans for MBBS abroad explains how much of that total banks will fund and on what security.

Which key terms will you meet in a Georgian admission?
MD (Medical Doctor): the single cycle six year degree Georgian universities award. It is the course Indian students call MBBS in Georgia.
ECTS credits: the European credit system. A full six year medical programme is 360 credits, sixty a year.
Enrolment without Unified National Examinations: the ministry procedure that admits foreign students without Georgia's national entrance exam, handled by the National Center for Educational Quality Enhancement.
D3 visa: Georgia's long stay study visa, applied for before travel; the residence permit follows after arrival.
WDOMS: the World Directory of Medical Schools, where Tbilisi State Medical University, Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University, David Tvildiani Medical University, New Vision University, University Geomedi, the University of Georgia, European University and Akaki Tsereteli State University all have entries. Our guide on how to check NMC and WDOMS recognition shows how to read a listing.
FMGE: the Foreign Medical Graduate Examination run by NBEMS, the licensing exam a Georgian MD graduate sits to practise in India. NExT is the planned replacement, deferred and not yet in force. Our FMGE explainer covers eligibility and pattern.

What comes after the Georgian MD degree?
A graduate who wants to practise in India needs the Georgian MD, the internship confirmation, registration with Georgia's regulator, and then a pass in FMGE followed by a twelve month supervised internship in India, as the FMGL Regulations 2021 FAQ describes. A graduate who wants to work in Europe, the United Kingdom or the United States follows that country's licensing route: PLAB and GMC registration for the UK, USMLE and ECFMG certification for the USA, or the recognition procedure of an EU member state. Because the degree is a six year European style MD with ECTS credits, those routes are open on the same terms as for other non EU graduates.
What if something goes wrong with a Georgian admission?
If a visa is refused, the common reasons are an incomplete ministry order set or thin proof of funds; reapply with the missing document, since the admission itself stays valid for the next intake. If you miss the September start, every university in the table except Batumi explicitly runs a spring semester from March, so the wait is one semester rather than one year. If a university raises its fee mid course, the offer letter is your reference; Batumi's programme page still shows the 4,000 dollar fee for students who enrolled in 2020-21 alongside the current 5,000 dollar figure, which is how Georgian universities usually handle fee changes by batch.
Which advanced points do families usually miss?
Tbilisi State Medical University's standard MD and American MD programmes have different fees. Confirm which one the offer letter names before paying.
Fee pages do not mark an academic year. Georgian universities fix the fee for the batch at enrolment, so the number on the page is what the current intake pays, not a guarantee for 2027 entrants.
The University of Georgia's fee page lists 6,500 dollars without stating "per year"; its admissions office confirms the annual basis in the offer.
Hostel costs are not on any fee page. Treat an agent's hostel figure as unconfirmed until the university writes it down.
The 54 month duration and 12 month internship conditions in the FMGL Regulations 2021 apply to students admitted from November 2021, which covers every 2026-27 entrant.
