Program Structure
Medical universities in Hungary follow European Union standards, delivering a structured, modern six-year programme taught entirely in English and focused on clinical training, leading to the MD (General Medicine) degree, equivalent to MBBS.

Basic medical sciences and foundational subjects focused on understanding the structure and function of the healthy human body:

Admissions
Indian students can apply for MBBS in Hungary directly after Class 12, subject to the university's entrance procedure and English-language requirement.
The student must have passed Class 12 (or equivalent) with Physics, Chemistry and Biology and a strong academic record.

Candidates must be at least 17 years old by 31 December of the admission year.
Applicants must clear the university's entrance procedure and meet the English-language requirement.
Entrance Examination
Successful completion of the entrance examination conducted by the Faculty of Medicine (Biology plus Chemistry or Physics, with an English/interview component).
English Proficiency
B2+ level (IELTS / TOEFL / Cambridge) if prior education was not in English.
Important: A valid NEET qualification is required for Indian students to later pursue licensing (FMGE / NExT) and practise in India, even though admission itself is through the university's own procedure.

How to Apply
Admission to General Medicine is through each university's own admission procedure (an entrance examination), not NEET. International applicants apply online, sit the entrance examination and confirm their place once admitted.
Choose your university and programme, complete the online application, and upload your academic documents, passport and English-proficiency proof before the deadline (typically between January and June for the September intake).

Medical education in Hungary dates back to 1769, when Empress Maria Theresa founded the Faculty of Medicine that became Semmelweis University — the oldest medical school in the country. Hungary gave medicine some of its most influential figures, including Ignaz Semmelweis, the "saviour of mothers", who discovered the life-saving value of hand disinfection, and Albert Szent-Györgyi, awarded the 1937 Nobel Prize for isolating vitamin C at the University of Szeged.

Your Roadmap to Success
