NEET PG 2025 exam date: Key Takeaways
NEET PG 2025 was first set for 15 June 2025. After a Supreme Court order on a single shift, it moved to 3 August 2025.
The exam ran in one shift, from 9 am to 12:30 pm, as a computer-based test for MD, MS and other PG medical courses.
NBEMS declared the result on 19 August 2025. The General and EWS cut-off was 276 out of 800, the 50th percentile.
All India quota scorecards opened on or after 5 September 2025 and stayed online for six months.
On 13 January 2026 the qualifying percentile was cut for round 3 counselling. The General and EWS cut-off fell to 103 out of 800.
What was the NEET PG 2025 exam date?
The NEET PG 2025 exam date was 3 August 2025. The NBEMS notice of 27 August 2025 confirms that NEET-PG 2025 was conducted on that day. It was a computer-based test, marked out of 800.
On exam day the paper ran from 9 am to 12:30 pm in a single shift, according to the All India Radio report of 3 August 2025. Close to 2.5 lakh medical graduates were due to sit it. Entry to centres opened at 7 am and closed at 8:30 am.

Why did the NEET PG 2025 exam date move from 15 June to 3 August?
NEET PG 2025 was first scheduled for 15 June 2025 in two shifts. On 30 May 2025 the Supreme Court directed that it be held in one shift. A single shift means every candidate sits the same paper at the same time. NBEMS then asked for more time to arrange enough centres.
On 6 June 2025 the Supreme Court allowed NBEMS to hold the exam on 3 August 2025 in one shift, as reported in the All India Radio report of 6 June 2025. The court said the reasons given were bona fide. It also said no further time would be granted.
Date | What happened in NEET PG 2025 |
|---|---|
15 June 2025 | Original exam date, in two shifts (later dropped) |
30 May 2025 | Supreme Court directs a single-shift exam |
6 June 2025 | Supreme Court allows the exam on 3 August 2025 in one shift |
3 August 2025 | Exam held, 9 am to 12:30 pm |
19 August 2025 | Result declared, with cut-off scores |
27 August 2025 | All India 50% quota merit list published |
5 September 2025 | All India quota scorecards open for download |
13 January 2026 | Qualifying percentile lowered for round 3 counselling |
What was the NEET PG 2025 result and cut-off?
NBEMS declared the NEET PG 2025 result on 19 August 2025. The cut-off is the lowest score that counts as qualified for counselling. For 2025 it was set as a percentile, meaning your position among all candidates, and then turned into a score out of 800.
In January 2026 the Ministry of Health asked NBEMS to lower the percentile so more candidates could join the third round of counselling. The NBEMS notice of 13 January 2026 on revised NEET-PG 2025 cut-off scores sets out both sets of figures.
Category | Cut-off at result (19 August 2025) | Revised cut-off (13 January 2026) |
|---|---|---|
General and EWS | 50th percentile, 276 out of 800 | 7th percentile, 103 out of 800 |
General PwBD | 45th percentile, 255 out of 800 | 5th percentile, 90 out of 800 |
SC, ST and OBC (including their PwBD) | 40th percentile, 235 out of 800 | 0th percentile, minus 40 out of 800 |
Ranks did not change when the percentile fell. Only the line for who could join counselling moved. A cut-off of minus 40 is possible because each wrong answer carried negative marks.
When did the NEET PG 2025 scorecard come out?
The All India 50% quota scorecard could be downloaded on or after 5 September 2025, according to the NBEMS notice of 27 August 2025. It stayed online for six months only. NBEMS did not post copies to candidates.
The scorecard showed three ranks:
NEET-PG 2025 rank: your merit position among everyone who sat the exam.
All India 50% quota rank: your position among candidates eligible for All India quota counselling.
All India 50% quota category rank: your position within your category, such as OBC, SC, ST or EWS.
State quota merit lists were made separately by each state, using its own rules and reservation policy.

Who could sit NEET PG 2025?
NBEMS sets the eligibility rules in the Information Bulletin for each year. The NEET PG 2024 Information Bulletin lists the core conditions:
An MBBS degree or provisional MBBS pass certificate recognised under the NMC Act, 2019.
A permanent or provisional registration certificate from the NMC or a State Medical Council.
One year of compulsory rotating internship completed by the cut-off date in that year's bulletin.
For Indian graduates from medical colleges abroad, a pass in FMGE, the screening exam a foreign medical graduate sits before working in India.
The NBEMS notice of 27 August 2025 adds one detail for foreign graduates. Where two candidates tie on score, NBEMS can use the FMGE marks given in the application form to break the tie. Those marks are checked against the original certificate at admission. Our guide on what the FMGE exam is covers that step. Graduates planning to work outside India sit that country's licensing exam instead, such as USMLE for the United States or PLAB for the United Kingdom.
