FMGE Result 2026: How to Check It and What Comes Next

The FMGE result is a simple Pass or Fail, published by NBEMS on natboard.edu.in. For the October 2026 sitting on 31 October, the FMGE result is due by 30 November 2026. You pass with at least 150 of 300 marks, and there is no re-evaluation. If you pass, the next step is an in-person visit to collect your Pass Certificate.

That last point is the one people miss. A pass on the screen is not yet a document you can use, and the rules around the certificate have a hard six month limit. So this guide walks through the whole stretch from exam day to registration, in the order it actually happens.

Key Takeaways

  • The FMGE result for October 2026 is due by 30 November 2026. NBEMS publishes it on natboard.edu.in as Pass or Fail only.
  • The pass mark is 150 of 300. Part wise marks are not published, and there is no re-totalling, re-evaluation or grace marks.
  • Question challenges close on 2 November 2026. That is the only chance to dispute a question, and it comes before the result.
  • Download your score card within six months. After that, NBEMS will not provide it.
  • The Pass Certificate needs an in-person visit. Collect it within six months of the result, or the result is deemed cancelled. A score card cannot replace it for registration.

When is the FMGE result for October 2026 declared?

The FMGE October 2026 result is likely to be declared by 30 November 2026, according to the Important Dates table and clause 10 of the FMGE October 2026 Information Bulletin. The exam itself is on 31 October 2026. So expect a wait of about four weeks.

"By 30 November" is a deadline, not a fixed date. NBEMS can publish earlier. Keep an eye on the NBEMS FMGE page from mid November instead of waiting for the last day.

If you haven't sat the exam yet, the dates that come first are in our post on FMGE October 2026 dates and fee, and the subject marks are in our FMGE syllabus guide.

How do you check your FMGE result?

NBEMS displays the FMGE result on its website, natboard.edu.in. Your personal score card is a separate thing: you download it after logging in with the credentials you used to apply. Nothing is sent by post or email.

Here is the order that saves you trouble later:

  1. Save your admit card now. The bulletin warns that the admit card will not be available after the result is declared. Keep a copy, since it holds your roll number.
  2. Watch the NBEMS FMGE page from mid November. The result will appear there. Ignore screenshots on social media; only the NBEMS site counts.
  3. Find your status. The FMGE result shows Pass or Fail, nothing in between.
  4. Log in and download your score card. Do it the same day, and keep a PDF and a printout.
  5. If you passed, watch for the Pass Certificate schedule. NBEMS publishes the distribution schedule on its website after the result.

One more case: NBEMS can withhold a candidate's result and will tell that candidate why. If yours is withheld, reply through the NBEMS communication portal with exactly what they ask for.

What does Pass or Fail in the FMGE result actually mean?

It means one number decided it: 150 of 300. The bulletin is blunt about the rest. Marks for Part I and Part II are not published, and there is no re-totalling, re-evaluation, rechecking or grace marks. A candidate who scores 149 fails, and no request will change that.

So if you are close to the line, there is no appeal route after the FMGE result. The only window to dispute anything is before it: you can challenge a question for technical errors, with supporting medical literature, for two calendar days after the exam. For October 2026 that means until 2 November 2026, through the NBEMS communication portal. Complaints about a question being too hard are not accepted.

NBEMS also publishes the answer key. You can see the question IDs, the correct answer IDs and the responses you marked through your applicant login.

What does each FMGE result document do?

People mix these up, and the mix up can cost a registration. Here is what each one is for, based on clause 10 of the bulletin.

Document Where you get it How long it is available What it is for
FMGE result (Pass or Fail) NBEMS website Published by 30 November 2026 Tells you if you passed
Score card Your NBEMS login Six months from the result Your own record of the result
FMGE Pass Certificate In person, after verification Collect within six months of the result The document State Medical Councils accept for registration
Duplicate Pass Certificate Online request with FIR and affidavit Fee 1,000 rupees plus 18 percent GST (up to 3 years old), 2,000 rupees plus GST (older) Replaces a lost certificate

The key line from the bulletin: the score card of FMGE cannot be produced in lieu of the Pass Certificate for registration with a State Medical Council. NBEMS also sends a digitally signed copy of the FMGE result to the National Medical Commission and to all State Medical Councils, so they can verify your certificate.

How do you collect the FMGE Pass Certificate?

You collect it in person. NBEMS issues Pass Certificates only after in-person verification of your documents and identity, including finger biometrics and Face ID. The bulletin says this is tentatively within four weeks of the FMGE result, but the period can vary.

What to do once you've passed:

  1. Check the distribution schedule on the NBEMS website. Your slot and venue are given there.
  2. Read your entry slip. It lists exactly which documents to bring for the in-person verification.
  3. Get your originals ready early. Your primary medical degree certificate must already be apostilled or attested by the Indian Embassy concerned. If yours isn't, our guide to apostille for MBBS in Europe explains the process.
  4. Go on your assigned date. If you miss it, you can still collect the certificate, but only within six months of the result.
  5. Keep the certificate safe. A duplicate needs an FIR, a notarised affidavit and a fee.

Miss the six month window and the bulletin is clear: your candidature and FMGE result are deemed cancelled, with no further chance to collect. That is a pass thrown away over a date. Put it in your calendar the day the result comes out.

Also worth knowing: passing doesn't lock in your eligibility. NBEMS treats eligibility as provisional, and if a problem with your documents is found later, it can cancel the candidature even after the result or the certificate is issued.

What comes after a pass in the FMGE result?

The Pass Certificate opens the Indian part of your training. Under Regulation 4 of the NMC's Foreign Medical Graduate Licentiate Regulations 2021, a foreign medical graduate gets permanent registration only after a supervised internship in India of at least twelve months, applied for through the Commission, plus the mandated licensing test. Students who began their course abroad before those rules came into force in November 2021 stay under the earlier regulations.

In practice, the next steps are:

What if your FMGE result says Fail?

Then you sit it again. There is no limit on the number of attempts, and the bulletin says NBEMS now holds the FMGE three times a year. A Fail costs you a few months, not your career.

A few practical points for the next attempt:

  • Keep the failed result and score card. NBEMS can ask ex-candidates for a copy of their fail certificate or result when it checks eligibility.
  • Rebuild your plan around the marks. The FMGE blueprint gives Medicine, Surgery, Obstetrics and Gynaecology and Community Medicine 125 of the 300 marks. Start there.
  • Revisit the Indian content. NBEMS bases the whole FMGE on the NMC's curriculum for the Indian MBBS, not on your university's course. NEETsheet's breakdown of the MBBS syllabus in India shows what that course covers.
  • Don't wait for NExT. The FMGE is the test in force today. Our NExT explainer covers what is and isn't decided.

Before results day

The FMGE result itself is the easy part: Pass or Fail, no marks, no appeals. What matters is what you do in the six months after it. Save your admit card now, download the score card the day the FMGE result appears, and collect the Pass Certificate on your assigned date. Then the internship and registration in India can start without a gap.
