The single most useful thing to understand about MBBS in Europe after NEET 2026 is that the Indian counselling calendar and the EU intake calendar overlap. They are not sequential. A European MBBS is recognised in India only when the specific university complies with the National Medical Commission's Foreign Medical Graduate Licentiate rules (a course of at least 54 months, a 12-month internship at the same institution, English-medium teaching) and when you later clear the licensing exam. Recognition is never automatic, so verify each university's listing in the World Directory of Medical Schools.

The licensing exam matters. In the June 2026 session, only 12.4% of candidates passed the Foreign Medical Graduate Examination (FMGE), per the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences, down from about 23.9% in December 2025.
