The MD in Serbia runs for six years within the European (Bologna) system, taught in English and divided into pre-clinical, para-clinical and clinical phases, with clinical training in university teaching hospitals and Serbian-language study for patient interaction.

Academic Qualification
Students must have passed Class 12 (10+2) or equivalent from a recognised board with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English, and must have qualified NEET-UG, which the NMC makes mandatory for Indian students studying medicine abroad.

Age Requirement
Candidates must meet the following criterion at the time of admission:
- Minimum age 17Applicants must have completed 17 years of age on or before 31 December of the year of admission.
Entrance & Application Requirements
Indian applicants must have a valid NEET-UG result; admission to the English-medium MD is based on Class 12 qualifications, and some faculties may set an entrance assessment in biology and chemistry.

National Eligibility cum Entrance Test, mandatory for Indian students and required for later FMGE eligibility.
Class 12 Merit + Faculty Application
Admission is offered on Class 12 marks; some public faculties may require an entrance assessment in biology and chemistry. No IELTS / TOEFL is usually required as teaching is in English.
For Students Planning to Return to India: NEET-UG is required before admission because the NMC makes it compulsory for Indian students abroad. Under the NMC Foreign Medical Graduate Licentiate (FMGL) Regulations 2021, the course must be at least 54 months plus internship, English-medium, and completed at the same institution in the same country, after which you must clear the FMGE to practise in India.

Study Visa
Student Visa Overview
Indian students study in Serbia on a type D long-stay student visa, then obtain a temporary residence permit (boravak) after arrival. The university provides the admission and enrolment documents needed for the application.
Accept your offer; the faculty issues the official admission / enrolment letter required for the visa application.
Arrange your NEET scorecard, Class 10 and 12 certificates, passport, passport photos, proof of funds, accommodation proof and a medical / health-insurance document.
Submit the type D (long-stay) student-visa application with your admission letter and documents to the Embassy / Consulate of Serbia in India.
Provide the required paperwork and complete any verification requested by the mission.
Receive the type D visa for entry into Serbia to begin your studies.
After arrival, register your address and apply for a temporary residence permit (boravak), which is renewed each year for the study period.

How to Practise
Your Path After MBBS / MD in Serbia
After MD
Finish the six-year MD (Integrated Academic Studies of Medicine) at an NMC compliant Serbian faculty, including the clinical training.
Receive your MD degree and have your documents attested for use abroad.
To practise in India, qualify the Foreign Medical Graduate Examination (FMGE) conducted by the National Board of Examinations, or the NExT once it replaces the FMGE.
After clearing the screening exam and completing any required internship, register with the National Medical Commission and your State Medical Council in India.
Compete for a PG seat through NEET PG (or NExT once it starts) in India, or pursue specialisation (specijalizacija) in Serbia or elsewhere in Europe.
Alternatively, prepare for licensing exams such as the USMLE (USA) or PLAB (UK), or use EU-recognition pathways where eligible.
Start clinical practice or enter a residency / PG training programme in your chosen specialty.
