How to Apply
Admission to the English-taught MD at Niš is by academic record and an entrance exam in Biology and Chemistry (in English), and Indian students must have a qualifying NEET-UG score. English-programme places can be limited, so apply early through the Faculty's official admissions route (medfak.ni.ac.rs).
Applicants must have passed Class 12 with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English, and Indian applicants must have a qualifying NEET-UG score, which is also required for later Indian licensing.
The English MD requires an entrance exam in Biology and Chemistry (in English), alongside the Class 12 record. Prepare for this and confirm the exact format on the official admissions page.

Program Structure
Niš's Medicine programme is a six-year (360 ECTS) integrated MD taught in English for international students: the first two years cover pre-clinical subjects, the next three the clinical subjects, and the final year is an internship year, with clinical training at the Clinical Centre of Niš. The exact structure and licensing steps matter for Indian licensing and should be confirmed in writing.

The Faculty's identity is its six decades of medical teaching in southern Serbia and its clinical base at the Clinical Centre of Niš, rather than a list of famous graduates.
Founded on 18 May 1960 to train doctors for Niš and southern Serbia, the Faculty is one of the founding faculties of the University of Niš and today teaches an English-taught integrated MD (360 ECTS) to international students.
Teaching is delivered by the Faculty's departments together with the Clinical Centre of Niš, one of Serbia's largest hospital complexes, giving students clinical exposure in a regional medical hub.

Practising in India
An Indian graduate of the University of Niš Faculty of Medicine who wants to practise in India follows the licensing pathway set by the National Medical Commission (NMC): qualifying NEET before starting, completing a course and internship that meet the NMC's conditions, clearing the NMC screening examination (currently the FMGE, transitioning to the NExT), completing the required internship in India and registering with the medical council. The NMC does not “approve” individual foreign universities; it sets conditions, and the Serbian MD structure should be checked against them.
Step 1
An Indian student must have qualified NEET-UG before beginning the course abroad to be eligible later for Indian licensing. A qualifying NEET score is required, and an NMC Eligibility Certificate is now expected before starting.
Step 2
The Foreign Medical Graduate Licentiate Regulations 2021 require the course and internship to meet the NMC's minimum duration (about 54 months of study plus a 12-month internship), completed in the same institution, taught in English, with a degree that entitles the holder to practise in the country of study. Because Niš awards a six-year integrated MD with a final internship year (and Serbia has its own state-licensing steps), students must confirm in writing how these conditions are met.
Step 3
Graduates must clear the qualifying examination for foreign medical graduates, currently the FMGE, which India is replacing with the National Exit Test (NExT), then complete the required internship in India and register with the National Medical Commission or a State Medical Council.
