The MBBS in Bangladesh runs for five years, taught in English and divided into pre-clinical, para-clinical and clinical phases under BMDC regulations, followed by a compulsory one-year rotating internship before registration.

Important: MBBS in Bangladesh is a direct-entry programme after Class 12, not a graduate-entry degree. The five-year course is followed by a compulsory one-year rotating internship, and progression is governed by professional examinations under BMDC and the affiliating university before the degree is awarded.

Academic Qualification
Students must have passed Class 12 (10+2) or equivalent from a recognised board with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English, and must have qualified NEET-UG, which the NMC and Bangladesh DGME make mandatory for Indian applicants.

Age Requirement
Candidates must meet the following criterion at the time of admission:
- Minimum age 17Applicants must have completed 17 years of age on or before 31 December of the year of admission.
Entrance & Application Requirements
Indian applicants must have a valid NEET-UG result; there is no separate Bangladeshi entrance exam for foreign-quota seats.
NEET-UG
National Eligibility cum Entrance Test — mandatory for Indian students and required for later FMGE / NExT eligibility.
Class 12 Merit + DGME Application
Admission is offered on Class 12 marks and NEET score through the DGME foreign-student process; no IELTS/TOEFL is required as teaching is in English.
For Students Planning to Return to India: NEET-UG is required before admission, not just afterwards, because the National Medical Commission (NMC) makes it compulsory for any Indian student pursuing MBBS abroad. After graduating, you must also clear the FMGE (or the NExT, once implemented) to obtain registration and practise in India.

Indian students study in Bangladesh on a student (X-category) visa. Once your admission is confirmed and cleared by the Directorate General of Medical Education (DGME), you apply at the Bangladesh High Commission or its Assistant High Commissions in India.
