The MBBS in Bangladesh runs for five years, taught in English and divided into pre-clinical, para-clinical and clinical phases under BMDC regulations, followed by a compulsory one-year rotating internship before registration.

Important: MBBS in Bangladesh is a direct-entry programme after Class 12, not a graduate-entry degree. Students must have passed Class 12 (10+2) or equivalent from a recognised board with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English, and must have qualified NEET-UG, which the NMC and Bangladesh DGME make mandatory for Indian applicants.

Age Requirement
Candidates must meet the following criterion at the time of admission:
- Minimum age 17Applicants must have completed 17 years of age on or before 31 December of the year of admission.
Entrance & Application Requirements
Indian applicants must have a valid NEET-UG result; there is no separate Bangladeshi entrance exam for foreign-quota seats.

National Eligibility cum Entrance Test, mandatory for Indian students and required for later FMGE eligibility.
Class 12 Merit + DGME Application
Admission is offered on Class 12 marks and NEET score through the DGME foreign-student process; no IELTS/TOEFL is required as teaching is in English.
For Students Planning to Return to India: NEET-UG is required before admission, not just afterwards, because the National Medical Commission (NMC) makes it compulsory for any Indian student pursuing MBBS abroad. After graduating, you must also clear the FMGE (or the NExT, once implemented) to obtain registration and practise in India.

Study Visa
Student Visa Overview
Indian students study in Bangladesh on a student (X-category) visa. Once your admission is confirmed and cleared by the Directorate General of Medical Education (DGME), you apply at the Bangladesh High Commission or its Assistant High Commissions in India.
Accept your offer from a BMDC-approved college and obtain the DGME clearance / eligibility for foreign students, which forms the basis of your visa application.
Arrange and attest your NEET scorecard, Class 10 and 12 certificates, passport, passport photos, medical fitness and (where asked) a police clearance certificate.
Submit the student-visa application with your admission and DGME documents to the Bangladesh High Commission in New Delhi or an Assistant High Commission (for example Kolkata, Mumbai, Agartala).
Provide the required paperwork and, if requested, attend a short interview or biometrics appointment at the mission.
Approval typically takes about 5–7 working days; you receive a student visa that is usually valid for one year and renewable for the duration of the course.
Enter Bangladesh, report to your college, complete college / BMDC registration and any on-arrival police reporting, and renew your visa each year as required.

How to Practise
Your Path After MBBS in Bangladesh
After MBBS
Finish the five-year MBBS at a BMDC-approved college and complete the compulsory one-year rotating internship.
Register with the Bangladesh Medical and Dental Council on completing your internship, which certifies you as a qualified doctor.
To practise in India, qualify the Foreign Medical Graduate Examination (FMGE) conducted by the National Board of Examinations, or the NExT once it replaces the FMGE.
After clearing the screening exam and completing any required internship, register with the National Medical Commission and your State Medical Council in India.
Compete for a PG seat through NEET PG (or NExT once it starts) in India, or take FCPS / MD / MS training in Bangladesh (for example under BSMMU).
Alternatively, prepare for licensing exams such as the USMLE (USA) or PLAB (UK) to train abroad.
Start clinical practice or enter a residency / PG training programme in your chosen specialty.
