New MBBS Colleges and Seats: The 2027-28 Window
How India decides its 2027-28 MBBS seats
NMC has opened the 2027-28 MBBS applications
The Medical Assessment and Rating Board invited online applications on 8 October 2026. The seats a student competes for in 2027 are being decided in this window.
Two things are on the table at once
The notice covers establishing new medical colleges for MBBS and raising the annual intake capacity of colleges that already run the course. Both go through the same portal.
Everything closes on 31 December 2026
Part A with the application fee, and Part A and Part B together, both close at 11:59 pm on 31 December 2026. Nothing can be filled or submitted after that.
Part A locks the moment it is submitted
Part A becomes non-editable as soon as it is submitted and the application number is generated. No change, replacement or further upload is allowed after that point.
Part B opened on 1 November 2026
Part B covers compliance with the Minimum Standard Requirements and assessment. A college can only fill Part B once Part A of its application has been submitted.
NMC will not cover a last minute failure
The notice says applicants should not wait until the last date, and that NMC is not responsible for technical, connectivity or payment gateway problems at submission.
Want the India and abroad comparison
Our guide to studying MBBS in India against abroad sets the seat numbers, the fees and the entrance route side by side so a family can weigh both.
