NEET UG Round 2 Counselling 2026

NEET UG Round 2 Counselling 2026

Round 2 Opens This Week

MCC is expected to open NEET UG 2026 Round 2 registration on August 25. Registration and fee payment run to August 29. Choice filling opens on August 25, locking closes on August 30, and the Round 2 allotment result is scheduled for September 5.

Round 1 Allotted 29,945 Seats

MCC allotted 29,945 MBBS, BDS and B.Sc Nursing seats in Round 1 under All India Quota, AIIMS, JIPMER, ESIC, and deemed and central universities. Round 1 reporting runs August 22 to 31.

Who Can Join Round 2

Candidates who did not get a seat in Round 1. Candidates who never registered. And Round 1 allottees who chose Float and want an upgrade. Freeze candidates are out of upgradation.

Freeze vs Float

MCC 2026 gives a Freeze or Float choice after every allotment. Freeze means you keep the seat and stop. Float means you accept it but stay in the running for something better. Float candidates get one-time online document verification.

Round 2 Is Not a Free Exit

Round 1 let candidates walk away without losing the security deposit. From Round 2 onwards, if you are allotted a seat and do not join, the security deposit is forfeited.

Upgrades End at Round 3

The upgrade window in 2026 runs only up to Round 3. After that, no seat upgrade is possible. Order your Round 2 choices with that ceiling in mind.

Dates Have Moved Before

MCC revised the Round 1 schedule twice in August 2026 and issued a revised information bulletin on August 20. Track mcc.nic.in for the Round 2 notice before locking choices.
