What NEET UG 2026 marks actually translate to in rank

NTA publishes its own rank table, and almost nobody uses it

Most marks against rank tables in circulation are estimates. NTA released an official one for NEET UG 2026 inside its list of toppers on 16 July 2026, giving the marks obtained at fixed rank intervals. It sits on pages 14 and 15 of that document rather than on the result page, which is why it is so rarely quoted.

The marks behind the ranks that matter

On NTA’s 2026 table, All India Rank 50,000 sits at 535 marks, AIR 1,00,000 at 493, AIR 2,00,000 at 433 and AIR 5,00,000 at 325. The table runs in 50,000 rank steps all the way to AIR 19,50,000, because rank is assigned across every candidate who appeared, not only those who qualified.

Where the qualifying line fell in 2026

Candidates in the UR and EWS categories qualified from 715 down to 213 marks, at the 50th percentile. OBC, SC and ST candidates qualified from 212 down to 177 marks, at the 40th percentile. NTA does not publish a separate EWS cutoff, so EWS sits with UR.

The cutoff moved a long way in a single year

The UR and EWS floor was 162 marks in 2024 and 144 in 2025 before rising to 213 in 2026. The reserved category floor moved from 127 to 113 and then to 177. That is the largest one year shift in the three year window.

How many candidates sit in each score band

NTA counted 19 candidates between 701 and 720 marks, 1,371 between 651 and 700, 8,425 between 601 and 650, and 27,055 between 551 and 600. The bands widen sharply lower down, with 2,50,899 candidates between 201 and 250 marks.

Qualifying and holding a seat are different things

11,21,185 candidates qualified NEET UG 2026 out of 19,99,895 who appeared. NMC’s seat matrix for 2026-27 lists 63,971 government MBBS seats and 76,243 private seats across 836 colleges, and that count excludes the Institutes of National Importance.
