What a medical college must publish before you pay

The fee is public before counselling

Since July 2025 every medical college must publish its full course-wise fee structure on its own website, along with the stipend it pays its interns.

The Supreme Court set that requirement

A Supreme Court judgment of 29 April 2025 held that private and deemed universities must disclose tuition, hostel charges and every other charge before counselling.

An undeclared fee is not a legal fee

A college must declare the fee for each course when it files its seat data. A fee that was never disclosed counts as unauthorised under the regulations.

A seat with no declared fee is not counted

The rule bites at the seat level. If a college does not disclose the fee while entering its seat matrix, that seat is not counted at all.

Penalties run to one crore rupees

Under the assessment and rating regulations of 2023, the Commission can impose a penalty of up to one crore rupees for each breach by a college.

Hostel and transport are yours to refuse

The fee guidelines say hostel, mess and transport are optional, and a student who does not use them cannot be charged. Caution deposits are refundable.
