Nepal caps what a college can charge you

The Medical Education Commission sets a statutory ceiling on total MBBS tuition. For the current year it is NPR 45,95,720 outside the Kathmandu Valley, around Rs. 28.7 lakh, and colleges cannot exceed it.

The catch most students miss on entry

Indian students can apply without sitting the MECEE-BL entrance exam, qualifying instead on a 50th percentile NEET score. Those applicants are only offered seats left unfilled after candidates who did sit MECEE-BL have been matched.

There is more room than people assume

Of 2,428 bachelor level seats allocated to foreign students in 2026, 1,952 sat vacant, a fill rate of 26.59%. MBBS seats for foreign students run to 749 across 27 institutions.

You do not need a visa

Indian nationals enter Nepal on a valid Indian passport, or an original Election Commission voter ID card with photograph. A downloaded or printed copy is not accepted, and neither is Aadhaar, PAN or a driving licence.

The course is 54 months exactly, with no margin

Four and a half academic years plus a 12 month internship meets the NMC minimum precisely. A repeated year or a compressed schedule puts eligibility at risk, so the academic record matters more here than elsewhere.

The Indian Embassy asks you to register, directly

The Embassy of India in Kathmandu requires every Indian student in Nepal to register with it, and states plainly that registrations submitted through education consultants will not be entertained.
