The National Testing Agency reported that close to 20 lakh candidates appeared for NEET UG 2026 and 11.21 lakh qualified. The result was declared on 16 July 2026.

The Uttar Pradesh seat matrix for 2026 lists 13,014 state quota MBBS seats across 92 colleges, 4,564 of them in 47 government colleges and 8,450 in 45 private ones.

Uttar Pradesh notified private MBBS fees for 2026-27 in September: Rs 15,99,973 a year at Prasad Medical College, Unnao and Rs 17,18,306 at Hind Institute, Barabanki.

What tuition looks like abroad

Tbilisi State Medical University charges USD 8,000 a year for its English medium programme, and Semmelweis University in Budapest EUR 9,340 a semester for general medicine.

The screening exam graduates have to clear

In the FMGE December 2025 session, 42,868 foreign medical graduates appeared and 10,264 passed, a pass rate of 23.94% on the National Board's own figures.

That pass rate has swung for years

The National Board's reports put the yearly FMGE pass rate at 16.48% in 2020, 24.54% in 2021, 23.35% in 2022, 16.65% in 2023 and 25.80% in 2024.
