The NAC Examination is the clinical exam every international medical graduate needs for a Canadian residency. The May 2027 sitting is on 1 May 2027, and applications open on 18 November and close on 9 December 2026.
Applications open 18 November, close 9 December 2026
The window on physiciansapply.ca opens on 18 November 2026 and closes at 11:59 pm Eastern Time on 9 December 2026. There is no late window, so a missed date means waiting for the September 2027 sitting.
The fee is CAD 3,320, about Rs 2.26 lakh
The NAC application fee is CAD 3,320, roughly Rs 2.26 lakh at about Rs 68 per Canadian dollar (Bank of Canada, 30 October 2026). Withdraw before 5 January 2027 and you get a refund minus CAD 538.
Exam day is 1 May 2027, in eight Canadian cities
The May 2027 NAC runs on one day, 1 May 2027, in Edmonton, Winnipeg, Hamilton, London, Ottawa, Toronto, Windsor and Saskatoon. There are no centres outside Canada, so budget for travel and a visitor visa.
What you need before you apply
A physiciansapply.ca account (CAD 150), a paid source verification request for your MBBS degree (CAD 232) and certified identity documents. Final year students can apply with a student attestation form if they finish within 15 months of the exam.
A half day OSCE with 12 stations, pass score 577
The NAC is a half day Objective Structured Clinical Examination: 12 stations of 11 minutes each, two of them unscored pilots. Scores run from 500 to 700 and the pass mark is 577. Results come about 8 weeks after the exam, in late June 2027.
Three attempts, and the May sitting fits the 2028 Match
You get three attempts and cannot sit two sessions in a row. The May 2027 result lands in late June, well before the CaRMS application deadline of 25 November 2027 for the 2028 match. The MCCQE can be taken before or after the NAC.
