Sri Ramachandra Medical College & Research Institute is a private institute under the Sri Ramachandra Institute of Higher Education and Research (SRIHER). Started in 1985, it was one of the first few colleges in India permitted to admit 250 MBBS students very early on. The college offers a variety of specialty and super-speciality courses, and beyond NMC recognition, it shares a connection with Harvard Medical School to support medical education, healthcare, and research. How to Apply
Admission Process for MBBS
Admission to MBBS at Sri Ramachandra is through NEET-UG followed by counselling managed by MCC under the deemed-university category. Students fill the college name during choice filling and lock it before the deadline; seats are allotted on merit each round, and selected candidates report to the college to pay the first-year tuition, hostel, and other fees and submit documents to confirm their seats.

Sri Ramachandra's Porur campus features air-conditioned lecture theatres, the ~1,800-bed Sri Ramachandra Medical Centre, a 40,000+ sq ft central library, departmental laboratories, dissection halls, an anatomy museum, a clinical simulation lab, an auditorium, sports grounds, a lap pool, a gym, and hostels.
There are approximately 4 main lecture theatres (each seating ~250 students). All classrooms are fully air-conditioned with projectors, smart boards, and internet, and some are inside the hospital for bedside teaching.
The main teaching hospital has approximately 1,800 beds, around 6 ICUs, 23 modern OTs, diagnostics like PET-CT and 3T MRI, advanced cath labs, a 24×7 blood bank, and a robotic surgery suite, handling about 5,000 OPD and 250 IPD cases daily.
The central library spans 40,000+ sq ft with approximately 69,798 medical and allied-science books, 6,904 non-book materials, 370+ print and 1,429+ e-journals, and 11,370 archived projects, offering 650+ study spots plus 252 reserved seats.
The central library houses a digital library with approximately 67+ PCs and fast internet, offering automated services; it is named after the founding Chancellor.
There are departmental laboratories for pre-clinical and para-clinical subjects, dissection halls, an anatomy museum, and a clinical simulation lab for undergraduate students.
The campus also has an auditorium, sports grounds, a lap pool, a fitness centre, a gymnasium, an open-air theatre, food courts, hostels, and other recreational zones.
