Introduction
PES Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (PESIMSR) is an established private medical college at Kuppam, in the Rayalaseema region of southern Andhra Pradesh near the Karnataka and Tamil Nadu borders, established on 11 September 2001 by the Peoples Education Society. The college is recognised by the National Medical Commission (NMC) and affiliated to Dr. NTR / Dr. YSR University of Health Sciences, Vijayawada. It admits 150 MBBS students each year and also runs postgraduate MD and MS programmes in a number of departments. Its attached PES Hospital, a roughly 970-bed teaching hospital, serves Kuppam and the surrounding tri-state region, giving MBBS students steady clinical exposure at an established private teaching hospital.
As a private college, MBBS fees at PESIMSR depend heavily on the quota: a low-fee convener (Category A) route through Dr. NTR / Dr. YSR UHS counselling, a higher-fee management (Category B) quota, and an NRI (Category C) quota. Clinical training runs at the attached PES Hospital, a roughly 970-bed teaching hospital that serves Kuppam and the surrounding tri-state region with an emergency department, OPD and IPD services and the major clinical specialties. Over two decades of operation, postgraduate MD/MS programmes across several departments, and a tri-state location near Bengaluru make it a preferred private option for students in the Rayalaseema region of Andhra Pradesh.
