MMCRI Mysuru
Mysore Medical College and Research Institute — also known as Government Medical College, Mysuru, and formerly Mysore Medical College (MMC) — is one of the oldest medical colleges in India. Established by Maharaja Krishnaraja Wadiyar IV in 1924, it was the first medical college in Karnataka and the seventh in India. Affiliated to the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Bengaluru, the college is known for extensive clinical exposure through its multiple teaching hospitals — Krishnarajendra (K.R.) Hospital, Cheluvamba Hospital, P.K.T.B., and C.D. Hospital — and its top-class infrastructure and high-standard curriculum attract students from across India.

How to Apply
Admission Process for MBBS
Admission to MBBS at MMCRI is through NEET-UG followed by counselling. Students apply through the MCC website for All India Quota seats (15%) and the Karnataka Examination Authority for Karnataka State Quota seats (85%). Students select MMCRI during choice filling; seats are allotted on rank, category, choice, and availability; and selected students report to the college with original documents to confirm their seats.

MMCRI has an approximately 90-acre campus on Irwin Road, Mysuru (about 15 acres for the main college buildings, 15 for K.R. Hospital, and ~65 for remote hospitals and hostels), with the heritage main building, lecture halls, science labs, a central library, an auditorium (1999), sports facilities, and four teaching hospitals (~2,315 beds combined).
The campus spreads over approximately 90 acres — about 15 acres for the main college buildings, 15 for K.R. Hospital, and the remaining ~65 for remote hospitals and hostels. The Princess Krishnajammanni TB and Chest Hospital occupies a further ~90 acres.

Founded in 1924
Mysore Medical College and Research Institute was founded by Maharaja Krishnaraja Wadiyar IV as Mysore Medical College in 1924. It was affiliated with the University of Mysore and began awarding medical degrees, and in 1930 the college was shifted to Mysore from Bangalore at the Maharaja's request.
