Lokmanya Tilak Municipal Medical College, Mumbai, is a medical college and research institute and one of the oldest medical colleges in Mumbai, with roughly 75 years of undergraduate and 50 years of postgraduate medical education. It holds a permanent affiliation with the University of Mumbai and is currently affiliated with the Maharashtra University of Health Sciences (MUHS), Nashik. Starting with about 60 MBBS students, it has grown to approximately 200, and offers programs across about 23 broad specialties and 8 super-speciality branches.

How to Apply

Admission Process for MBBS

Admission to MBBS at LTMMC is through NEET-UG followed by counselling. NEET-qualified students participate via All India Quota (15%) and Maharashtra State Quota (85%). On allotment, students report to the college with three sets of document copies plus originals for verification, then pay the fees and complete the formalities.

History Information

Founded in 1964

Lokmanya Tilak Municipal Medical College was established on 20 November 1964 with a first batch of about 60 students. The Lokmanya Tilak Municipal Hospital had started in 1947 with about 10 beds, and in 1964 the college began on the same campus as the hospital.

Named After Lokmanya Tilak

The college and hospital are named after Lokmanya Tilak, a leading Maharashtrian freedom fighter of pre-independence India.

Growth of Sion Hospital

The hospital, which started with 10 beds, has now expanded to approximately 1,462 beds.

Today

The college has increased its enrolment to approximately 200 MBBS students and about 190 postgraduate students, growing into one of Mumbai's leading municipal medical institutions.
