Lady Hardinge Medical College, New Delhi, is one of the most respected government medical colleges in India, especially for students who want strong MBBS training in a busy public hospital system. It has a very distinct identity because, at the undergraduate level, it is still known as the only medical college in India exclusively training women MBBS students. That history matters, but what makes the college especially attractive today is the size of its academic and clinical setup.

LHMC works with two major teaching hospitals: Smt. Sucheta Kriplani Hospital with a sanctioned strength of about 1,397 beds and Kalawati Saran Children's Hospital with about 403 beds. Put together, that gives the college an attached hospital system of roughly 1,800 beds, which is a very serious clinical base for undergraduate training. LHMC has about 284 faculty members in position, along with around 200 senior residents, 51 junior residents, and 641 nursing staff. That gives students a fairly large academic and hospital support system to learn within.

How to Apply
Admission Process for MBBS
MBBS admission at Lady Hardinge Medical College is entrance-based. Students must qualify NEET-UG, and admission is completed through the counselling process, allotment, document verification, fee payment, and physical reporting. For 2025, LHMC asked students to complete online registration on the Delhi University website, upload certificates and print the DU form, make the online DU fee payment, submit an anti-ragging undertaking, bring the required original documents, deposit the college fee of ₹1,655, and then complete online locking of the seat at the MCC interface.

The story of Lady Hardinge Medical College began in 1914, when it was founded to expand medical education for women in India. The foundation stone was laid on 17 March 1914, and the institution formally opened on 17 February 1916.

LHMC Hostel Facilities
LHMC has a fairly large hostel setup, which is a major practical advantage for students studying in a city like Delhi. The undergraduate hostel is spread across 4 blocks and houses more than 900 students.
Centenary & West Blocks
In terms of size, Centenary Blocks A and B together have about 240 rooms with accommodation for around 480 students, while West Block has 84 cubicles with space for about 168 students, along with 217 big rooms.
South & North Blocks
South Block has about 21 rooms with accommodation for around 63 students, and North Block has about 23 rooms with space for around 69 students.
