History
Introduction
Kasturba Medical College, Mangaluru, was started in 1955 by utilizing the clinical facilities of two government hospitals — Government Wenlock Hospital and Government Lady Goschen Hospital. The college is associated with both government and private hospitals, giving students wide clinical exposure during the MBBS program. It is one of the top-ranking colleges in India with a NIRF medical rank of 35 in 2025. The college has the pride of the highest number of ICMR STS projects in the country, and the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) has recognized it among the top 20 international medical schools for its electronic credentials verification program. How to Apply
Admission to MBBS at KMC Mangaluru is through NEET-UG followed by counselling. The college offers approximately 250 seats. Students participate either through Deemed University counselling (MCC) or state counselling by the Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA). Counselling includes registration, document submission, choice filling, and seat allotment by MCC & KEA; allotted candidates then report to the college to complete admission.
Indian nationals must have passed Class 12 with Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology and English, with at least 50% marks together in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology/Biochemistry.
Subjects:
International applicants (foreign nationals, NRI / NRI-sponsored, OCI, PIO) have separate qualifications — see the eligibility table for A-Level and IB Board requirements.

History
Kasturba Medical College, Mangaluru, a leading private medical college, was started in 1955 using the clinical facilities of the Government Wenlock Hospital and the Government Lady Goschen Hospital. Its founder, Dr. T. M. A. Pai, started the college as the first public-private partnership for medical education and healthcare in India.
The main campus teaching hospital, KMC Hospital, Attavar, was established in 1992.
