How to Apply
Admission Process for MBBS
Getting into KGMU Lucknow for MBBS is based on NEET-UG. Students have to pass the test and then go through the counseling process. MCC fills the 15% All India Quota seats, while Uttar Pradesh medical counseling fills the rest of the state quota seats.

History Information
A Vision for Lucknow
KGMU's history goes back more than a century, and that legacy still matters today. The idea of setting up a major medical college in Lucknow began in the late nineteenth century, and the institution started taking shape in the early 1900s.
Foundation & First Sessions (1906–1914)
The foundation of King George's Medical College was laid in 1906, the first academic session began in 1911, and the hospital opened in 1914.
Becoming a University (2002–2003)
Over the years, the institution grew steadily from a medical college into a full medical university. It was granted university status in 2002, and in 2003, the name K.G. Medical University was restored.

Today, KGMU's long history is not just part of its identity, but also one of the reasons it continues to be trusted as one of India's leading medical institutions.

KGMU has a large hostel setup within its main campus in Chowk, Lucknow, with separate accommodation for boys, girls, interns, residents, nursing students, and other student groups.
Large Residential Scale
The scale is quite clear from the room counts itself. SP Hostel has 285 rooms, TG Multistory Hostel has 352 rooms, and Gautam Buddha Hostel has 304 rooms, while New VL Hostel has 107 rooms and Maha Maya Hostel has 108 single-seated rooms. So, when students come to KGMU, they are joining a campus with an established residential system rather than a small or limited hostel setup.
