Indira Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences (IGIMS), Patna is an autonomous state medical institute at Sheikhpura, Patna, Bihar. Established in 1983 on the pattern of AIIMS New Delhi, it is the only super-specialist institute in Bihar and tops the state's patient-referral chain. It is recognised by the National Medical Commission (NMC) and, as an autonomous institute, awards its own degrees (MBBS, MD, MS, DM, MCh, DNB, PhD). It admits 150 MBBS students each year on NEET-UG merit through the 15% All India Quota (MCC) and the 85% Bihar state quota (BCECEB/UGMAC), and runs the highest number of super-specialty seats among Bihar's colleges. Its hospital has 1,000-plus beds.

How to Apply
Admission to MBBS at Indira Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences is entirely through NEET-UG merit. As a government institute, seats are filled through two routes: the 15% All India Quota via MCC counselling and the 85% Bihar state quota via BCECEB (UGMAC) under the Directorate of Medical Education (DME), Bihar. There is no management or NRI quota.
The student must have passed Class 12 (10+2) with Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology and English as compulsory subjects, from a recognised board.
Subjects:
Minimum qualifying-exam marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology taken together: 50% for General/EWS, 40% for SC/ST/OBC, and 45% for PwBD candidates (per NEET-UG norms).

Indira Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences was established in 1983 at Sheikhpura, Patna, on the pattern of AIIMS New Delhi, as an autonomous state institute for tertiary care, medical education and research.

Housing
Indira Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences provides separate on-campus hostel accommodation for men and women (and interns and PG residents), within the campus close to the academic blocks and the teaching hospital, so students can move easily between classes, wards and their rooms.
