It is recognised by the National Medical Commission (NMC) and, as an autonomous institute, awards its own degrees (MBBS, MD, MS, DM, MCh, DNB, PhD). It admits 150 MBBS students each year on NEET-UG merit through the 15% All India Quota (MCC) and the 85% Bihar state quota (BCECEB/UGMAC), and runs the highest number of super-specialty seats among Bihar's colleges. Its hospital has 1,000-plus beds.
