How to Apply

Admission Process for MBBS

MBBS admission at Grant Medical College is through NEET-UG. Students first need to qualify the exam and then take part in the appropriate counselling process, either under the All India Quota or the Maharashtra state quota. Once a seat is allotted, admission is completed through document verification, fee payment, and the required college formalities. The reporting process is fairly structured, so students need to come prepared: report in person with all original documents, submit two sets of self-attested photocopies, arrange the papers in the required order, keep scanned PDF copies ready, and complete the prescribed college forms. Delayed submission of pending documents can attract a late fee.

History

History Information

One of South Asia's Oldest (1845)

Grant Medical College was established in 1845 and is still counted among the oldest medical colleges in South Asia.

Grown with the Sir J.J. Hospitals

Over time, it developed alongside the Sir J.J. hospital system and became one of Mumbai's best-known public medical institutions. Even today, that legacy continues to shape how students view the college.

Respected for Generations

Grant is not valued only because it is old. It is valued because it has remained a respected name in medical education for generations.

Education, Care, Research & Training

What gives that history real weight is the kind of institution Grant has continued to be. Its identity has long been shaped by four things working together: medical education, patient care, research, and hospital-based training. That combination is a big part of why the college still holds such a strong place in western India's medical landscape.

Housing

Grant Medical College Hostel Facilities

Grant Medical College has around 5 hostels on campus, which gives students a more structured residential setup than many other city-based medical colleges.

Part of the Admission Process

Hostel accommodation is clearly part of the admission process, so it is handled through the regular student administration system rather than through an informal separate arrangement.

Predictable Residential Costs

Students can also estimate some of the basic residential costs in advance, since hostel rent, hostel deposit, and electricity charges are shown separately in the fee breakup.

First-Year Allotment (2025–26)

For the 2025–26 MBBS batch, hostel accommodation notices were issued for new students, which suggests that first-year hostel allotment was active for that cycle.

Check Year by Year

At the same time, hostel availability should still be checked year by year, since allotment, timing, and room distribution can change from one admission cycle to another.

Scholarship & Financial

Scholarship & Financial Aid

Given below are the different scholarships available:

  • MUHS Student Welfare Schemes

Students at Grant Medical College can access a range of MUHS-linked student welfare schemes, including Dhanwantari Vidhyadhan Yojana, Earn While Learn Yojana, Savitribai Phule Girl Scholarship, Sanjeevani Student Security Yojana, Bahishal Shikshan Mandal Yojana, and Student Sports Scholarship Yojana.

  • Category-Based Fee Relief

The MBBS fee structure also shows major reductions for eligible Maharashtra students under reserved-category, EWS, and certain income-linked provisions. For many students, this is one of the most important ways to reduce the overall fee burden.

  • Admission-Linked Financial Documentation

Students who may be eligible for scholarship or fee relief should keep their category, income, caste-validity, non-creamy layer, and EWS documents ready from the beginning of the admission process. Since these papers are often required for financial support, it helps to prepare them early rather than leave them for later.

Application Process

Track College & MUHS Schemes

Students can track available schemes through the college's Scholarships section and the MUHS Student Welfare Schemes page.

Keep Documents Ready

Students seeking fee relief should keep category, income, EWS, caste-validity, and non-creamy layer documents ready wherever applicable.

Follow Current Notices

Since scholarship rules and timelines can change, students should follow the current college and MUHS notices rather than assuming the previous cycle will remain unchanged.
