Government Medical College, Surat, was founded in 1964. It is affiliated with Veer Narmad South Gujarat University and recognised by the National Medical Commission. How to Apply
Admission Process for MBBS
Admission to MBBS at GMC Surat is through NEET-UG followed by counselling. Of the ~250 seats, 15% are filled under the All India Quota (MCC) and 85% under the Gujarat state quota by ACPUGMEC. Students register on the counselling portal, list GMC Surat as their top choice and lock it; seats are allotted on NEET rank, preference, category and availability. Allotted students report to the college to complete admission formalities, including fee payment and document verification.

New Civil Hospital has 1,200+ beds (about 110 ICU/special-case beds), specialised centres (Hemophilia, De-addiction, Sickle Cell) and about 24 operating theatres. Academics feature four theatre-style 300-seat lecture halls, an examination hall, separate common rooms, ~24 demonstration rooms and 10 practical labs, plus a ~4,200 sq m single-floor Medical College Library.

The campus spreads over about 130 acres with academic buildings, hospital buildings, a super-specialty hospital, a cafeteria, residential quarters and hostels, plus attached Government Physiotherapy and Nursing Colleges.
New Civil Hospital has about 1,200+ beds (~110 ICU/special-case beds), specialised centres (Hemophilia, De-addiction, Sickle Cell and others) and about 24 operating theatres.
There are four theatre-style 300-seat lecture halls (assigned to Anatomy, Physiology, Microbiology and PSM), an examination hall, separate common rooms for boys and girls, about 24 demonstration rooms and 10 practical labs.
The single-floor Medical College Library spans about 4,200 sq m with separate UG/PG reading halls, a computer lab, and about 22,031 books along with journals, back volumes and 805 dissertations.
Sports facilities include a cricket ground and volleyball, badminton and table-tennis courts, plus a gymnasium with trainer support. Multiple food spots (canteens, dairy, ice-cream & juice parlours) are on campus, with a mess in every hostel.
