Long celebrated as one of the largest government medical college campuses in Asia by land area, it was affiliated with Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University from 1947 to 1997 and is now affiliated with the Maharashtra University of Health Sciences. Admission Process for MBBS
Admission to MBBS at GMC Nagpur is through NEET-UG followed by counselling. NEET-qualified students participate in counselling — MCC conducts All India Quota counselling, while the Maharashtra State CET Cell conducts state-quota counselling. From a 1943 Proposal to a 1947 Founding
Due to high demand for a medical college in the Nagpur region, a committee was appointed by Nagpur University's working council in 1943; its recommendations were positive, but the plan was delayed by the Second World War. The college started in 1947, when the Government of CP and Berar asked Dr. Jiwraj Mehta to suggest a suitable location, and he selected an open ground opposite Rajabaksha given the area's needy population.
