How to Apply

Admission Process for MBBS

Admission to MBBS at GMC Aurangabad is through NEET-UG followed by counselling. Of the 200 seats, 30 are filled via the All India Quota and 170 are reserved for the Maharashtra State Quota (CET Cell). After qualifying NEET-UG, students register, fill choices, and seats are allotted on NEET rank, reservation, and availability; allotted students report to confirm their seat.

The main academic building is four storeys with 30+ departmental rooms, offices on the ground floor, the Dean's office on the first floor, lecture halls, and anatomy, pathology, and PSM museums, plus a small canteen and an 800-seat auditorium.

History

History Information

Founded on Independence Day, 1956

Government Medical College, Aurangabad, was established on 15 August 1956 — the 10th Independence Day of India — starting with 50 undergraduate students in a small Nizam Bungalow in the cantonment area, with special wards at Amkhas elsewhere in the city.

Main Building & Inauguration

The foundation stone for the main college building was laid on 27 October 1957 and inaugurated by Sushila Nayyar, then Union Minister of Health, on 20 June 1964. In the early years, first-year students moved to GMC Nagpur to complete their second and final years.

Changing Affiliations

Until 1963, the college was affiliated with Osmania University, Hyderabad, and afterwards with Marathwada University (now MUHS).

A Marathwada Healthcare Hub

From the Nizam Bungalow in 1960, the college is now equipped with a large teaching hospital serving Marathwada and surrounding regions.
