History
Introduction
Government Medical College, Amravati, was established on 11 October 2024 — one of five government medical colleges in Vidarbha inaugurated by the Prime Minister that day. It is affiliated with the Maharashtra University of Health Sciences, Nashik, and approved by the National Medical Commission, offering approximately 100 MBBS seats. The first MBBS batch was admitted in the 2024–25 academic session.

How to Apply
Admission to MBBS at GMC Amravati is through NEET-UG followed by counselling. Of the approximately 100 seats, 15% are filled under the All India Quota (MCC counselling) and 85% under the state quota (counselled by the Directorate of Medical Education and Research). After qualifying NEET-UG, students register, fill and lock choices, and seats are allotted; allotted students report to the college, where the scrutiny officer verifies documents and confirms admission before fee payment.
The student must have completed Class 12 or equivalent with Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology, and English.
Subjects:
Minimum PCB marks are approximately 50% for the general category, 40% for reserved categories, and 45% for PwD students.

World-Class Campus
GMC Amravati's campus spreads over approximately 37 acres and is still developing, currently located within the Daffrin Women's Hospital campus. A newly built building serves as the administrative block, academic building, laboratories and central library, with hostels on the same campus. There are separate, fully-equipped labs for anatomy, biochemistry and physiology (4 cadavers — 2 dissected, 2 non-dissected), two audio-visual lecture halls, and a library (resources for all years, currently not yet operational). There is no dedicated sports ground; students use outside sports complexes. Three teaching hospitals are on campus — Irwin (~390 beds, 6 ICU), Daffrin Women's (~200 beds) and a Super Specialty Hospital — plus a Malaria Centre.
