Byramjee Jeejeebhoy Medical College (BJMC), Ahmedabad, is a public medical college started in 1871 and affiliated with the Civil Hospital in the city. It began with a batch of about 14 students trained as hospital assistants and is now affiliated with Gujarat University. How to Apply

Admission Process for MBBS

Admission to MBBS at BJMC is through NEET-UG followed by counselling. Of the ~250 seats, 15% are filled via the All India Quota (MCC counselling) and 85% under the Gujarat State Quota. Students register for counselling, submit documents and complete choice filling; seats are allotted on NEET rank, reservation policy and availability, after which students report physically to complete admission formalities within the timeline.

Founded in 1871 as the Ahmedabad Medical School

BJMC was started in 1871 as the Ahmedabad Medical School with 14 students trained as hospital assistants. Businessman Byramjee Jeejeebhoy later donated ₹20,000 to expand its facilities, and the college was renamed B.J. Medical School.

Affiliations: Bombay to Gujarat University

The college was affiliated with the College of Physicians & Surgeons of Bombay in 1917, and by 1946 with the University of Bombay as a certified medical college offering a Licentiate Certified Physician and Surgeon degree.

Undergraduate & Postgraduate Programs

In 1951 the college became affiliated with Gujarat University and started its undergraduate program, followed by its postgraduate program in 1956.
