How to Apply

Admission Process for MBBS

B.J. Government Medical College offers approximately 250 MBBS seats, filled through NEET-UG followed by counselling. Students apply via Maharashtra State counselling (85% state quota) or All India counselling (15% AIQ). Seats are allotted on NEET rank, reservation, and availability; the supplied state-quota reservation is about 15% SC, 7.5% ST, 30% OBC, and 10% EWS. Allotted students report to the college with documents to complete admission.

History Information

From B.J. Medical School (1871)

B.J. Government Medical College was established on 23 June 1946 by upgrading the earlier B.J. Medical School, which had been started in 1871 under the visionary leadership of philanthropist Byramjee Jeejeebhoy, who aimed to train doctors and provide quality medical services in Pune.

Sassoon General Hospital (1867)

Sassoon General Hospital was built in 1867 and, after the establishment of the college, became associated with it to provide extensive clinical training to students.

Growth Over the Decades

Over time, both the college and the hospital expanded their programs, facilities, and medical services for students and patients.
