Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences (AIMS), Kochi, is a multi-specialty hospital and medical school on Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham's Kochi campus, started on 17 May 1998 by then Prime Minister Atal B. Vajpayee and commonly known as Amrita Hospital, Kochi. The institute spans Schools of Medicine, Dentistry, Nursing, Pharmacy, Nanosciences and Allied Health, along with Arts, Sciences and Management. How to Apply

Admission Process for MBBS

Admission to MBBS at AIMS Kochi (a deemed university) is through NEET-UG followed by deemed-university counselling conducted by DGHS. Students register, submit documents and complete choice filling; seats are allotted on NEET rank and availability. Allotted candidates report to the college to complete admission formalities within the deadlines.

AIMS Kochi spreads over approximately 125 acres alongside the university's other schools (Medicine, Dentistry, Nursing & Pharmacy, and the Centre for Nanoscience). Amrita Hospital has ~1,200 patient beds, 220 intensive-care beds, ~25 modern operating theatres and 17 NABL-accredited clinical laboratories, with fully digital radiology and a blood bank. Academic facilities include seminar halls, an e-learning studio with satellite connectivity, central and departmental libraries, computer labs, anatomy dissection halls and museum, and departmental labs. Sports facilities span ~3 acres with separate gyms; the campus also has ~25 R&D labs, a helipad, an ATM, buses and cafeterias.

Founded in 1998 by Mata Amritanandamayi

Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences was founded in 1998 by Mata Amritanandamayi, and then Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee inaugurated the institution with approximately 115 hospital beds. AIMS is the medical school of Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, the deemed university.

Expansion in 2003

In 2003, the institution expanded its programs and hospital facilities; the campus, originally 40 acres, was expanded to its current 125 acres.
