AIIMS Bhubaneswar is one of the top AIIMS institutions after AIIMS Delhi and AIIMS Rishikesh. How to Apply

Admission Process for MBBS

Each year, AIIMS Bhubaneswar admits 125 MBBS students. Admission is highly competitive and requires qualifying NEET-UG, after which students participate in counselling conducted by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) for All India Quota seats. Students register, submit documents, fill and lock their AIIMS Bhubaneswar choice, and seats are allotted on NEET rank, availability, and reservation policy before final reporting at the institute.

History

History Information

Announced in 2003

AIIMS Bhubaneswar's history started on 15 August 2003, when Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee announced, during his Independence Day speech, a plan to open six new AIIMS under the Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana (PMSSY). AIIMS Bhubaneswar was one of them, along with AIIMS Patna, Raipur, Bhopal, Jodhpur, and Rishikesh.

Foundation Stone

The foundation stone of the institution was laid on 15 July 2003, with a mission to upgrade medical facilities in underserved areas and minimize regional disparities in education and healthcare.

An Autonomous Institute of National Importance

AIIMS Bhubaneswar was founded as an autonomous institution and one of the Institutes of National Importance, officially established in 2012.

Reducing Regional Disparities

The institute was set up to reduce regional disparities in the education and healthcare sectors, bringing AIIMS-level tertiary care and medical education to eastern India.

Housing

AIIMS Bhubaneswar Hostel Facilities

AIIMS Bhubaneswar has an on-campus residential complex with two girls' hostels, four boys' hostels, faculty and staff accommodation, and guest houses.

Blocks & Capacity

The A and F blocks serve as the main hostel blocks, further subcategorized into IIA, PG-1A, PG-1B, PG-II, and PG-III. The hostel buildings can accommodate more than 800 students.

Rooms

Hostel rooms are spacious with amenities including a bed, study table, chair, and wardrobe. The management is also planning to turn the campus fully Wi-Fi-enabled due to high student internet use.

Dining Halls

Two fully air-conditioned dining halls accommodate all hostel residents, and the mess serves four meals a day.

Recreation & Gym

Plenty of indoor and outdoor facilities are available — chess, carrom, volleyball, cricket, and more — and a well-equipped gymnasium is located on the second floor of Dining Hall II.

Water & Hostel Management

The hostels have more than 30 new water coolers for safe drinking water, and the hostel authority — including the chief superintendent and other members — regularly visits and interacts with residents to maintain standards and resolve issues.
