AIIMS Bhubaneswar
AIIMS Bhubaneswar is one of the top AIIMS institutions after AIIMS Delhi and AIIMS Rishikesh. It was founded in 2012 under the Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana (PMSSY), starting alongside five other newly established AIIMS with the aim of reducing regional disparities in healthcare and education. It is one of the most preferred AIIMS campuses after AIIMS Delhi among NEET aspirants, consistently ranking in the top 15 of the NIRF medical category, and in the top 100 colleges overall in NIRF 2025. How to Apply
Admission Process for MBBS
Each year, AIIMS Bhubaneswar admits 125 MBBS students. Admission is highly competitive and requires qualifying NEET-UG, after which students participate in counselling conducted by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) for All India Quota seats. Students register, submit documents, fill and lock their AIIMS Bhubaneswar choice, and seats are allotted on NEET rank, availability, and reservation policy before final reporting at the institute.

AIIMS Bhubaneswar Hospital is an approximately 900-bed multi-specialty hospital with more than 43 departments, receiving about 4,000–5,000 OPD cases daily.
The academic area has the Academic Block, Central Library, and College of Nursing. The Academic Blocks have 4 lecture halls and departmental laboratories for Forensic Medicine, Biochemistry, Pathology, Community Medicine, Anatomy, and others. Each department has separate cabins, laboratories, a library room, and conference rooms, alongside leadership offices (Director, Dean, and staff departments).
The central library holds more than 13,000 books, 1,750+ e-books, 66+ bound volume journals, 11+ databases, 4,500+ electronic journals, 500+ CDs/DVDs, and 266+ theses, plus magazines and newspapers. It offers a digital library with about 25 computers, fully air-conditioned reading rooms, and Wi-Fi.
The residential complex has two girls' hostels and four boys' hostels with capacity for more than 800 residents, along with the Director's Bungalow and guest houses.
AIIMS Bhubaneswar is also developing a satellite centre in Balasore, spread over about 25 acres, which will include a 300-bed multi-specialty hospital.

Announced in 2003
AIIMS Bhubaneswar's history started on 15 August 2003, when Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee announced, during his Independence Day speech, a plan to open six new AIIMS under the Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana (PMSSY). AIIMS Bhubaneswar was one of them, along with AIIMS Patna, Raipur, Bhopal, Jodhpur, and Rishikesh.
