How to Apply
Admission to Medicine in English at Carol Davila University is based on academic performance and document evaluation, with an English-language requirement, following the faculty's published entrance methodology. Indian students must also qualify NEET to obtain the NMC eligibility certificate required to study MBBS abroad, but admission to Carol Davila itself is decided on the academic file and English, not on NEET rank.
International applicants submit the online application and required documents to the UMFCD international office during the spring application window.
Admission is assessed on academic performance and document evaluation, with an English-language requirement (a recognised B2 certificate), and online interviews or the faculty's entrance assessment in Biology and English where applicable.
Applicants are ranked on their academic file and assessment, and offers (including the Letter of Acceptance from the Romanian Ministry of Education) are issued to selected candidates.
Admitted students confirm their place and pay the first-year tuition to secure their seat.

Legacy
Across more than a century and a half, Carol Davila University has produced some of the most important figures in the history of medicine, including a Nobel Laureate and the discoverer of insulin.
George Emil Palade studied at Carol Davila and later served as a professor there. Described as the most influential cell biologist of his era, he won the 1974 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine for his discoveries on the structure and function of the cell, and received the US National Medal of Science.
Nicolae Paulescu was a Romanian physiologist and professor at the university who first isolated insulin (which he called pancreine) in 1921, work central to the treatment of diabetes and the subject of a well-known controversy over the 1923 Nobel Prize.
Aurel Babeș was a Romanian scientist connected with the university who was one of the early developers of the cytological screening test for cervical cancer, a forerunner of the modern Pap test that has saved countless lives worldwide.
Mina Minovici was a pioneering Romanian forensic scientist who founded the Institute of Forensic Medicine in Bucharest, one of the oldest in the world, and helped establish modern legal medicine in Romania.

Practising in India
To practise medicine in India after graduating from Carol Davila University, Indian students follow a clear pathway set by the National Medical Commission. NEET qualification is required from the start to obtain the NMC eligibility certificate.
Step 1
Graduates must clear the qualifying examination that licenses foreign medical graduates to practise in India. This is currently the Foreign Medical Graduate Examination (FMGE), which is transitioning to the National Exit Test (NExT).
