How to Apply
Admission to the 6-year English MD at the Medical University of Łódź is a two-stage process: science-subject grades converted to points against a yearly threshold, and the university's own online entrance examination. Indian students apply online to the MUL English Division and should hold a valid NEET qualification for future licensing in India. Applications are made directly to the university.
The online application window for the October 2026 intake opens on the MUL English Division (StudyMed) portal.
Indian applicants should hold a valid NEET-UG qualification, required by India's NMC for licensing after a foreign medical degree.
Applicants are assessed on grades in two science subjects (from Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics) and sit the university's online entrance examination; holders of the IB, EB or an approved Matura may be exempt from the science section.
Final date to submit the completed application for the October 2026 intake.
Successful applicants confirm their place and pay the fees, then apply for the Polish (EU) student visa and residence documents and prepare to travel to Łódź.
The academic year begins in Łódź; the first-year tuition is paid in two instalments.
Applicants must have completed Class 12 (or equivalent secondary education) with Biology, Chemistry and Physics and strong science grades. For Indian students, the NMC requires a minimum aggregate of 50% in Physics, Chemistry and Biology (40% for reserved categories) plus English, and a valid NEET qualification, for licensing in India.

Candidates should be at least 17 years old by 31 December of the admission year, in line with NMC rules for studying medicine abroad.
Selection is based on science-subject grades and the university's online entrance examination, together with English proficiency. Indian students also need a valid NEET result for future Indian licensing. Applications are made to the MUL English Division.

Program Structure
The Medical University of Łódź teaches a six-year, 360-ECTS MD that moves from basic sciences to full clinical training in the university's teaching hospitals, with summer clinical practice between years and a final-year elective that may be taken abroad, taught in English and leading to the Polish lekarz (physician) degree, equivalent to an MBBS.

Leadership
The Medical University of Łódź is led by an experienced team of physicians and scientists across its faculties and three university teaching hospitals.
Professor Janusz Piekarski, a surgical oncologist, is the Rector of the Medical University of Łódź. He leads Poland's biggest state medical university, with around 9,300 students, three university teaching hospitals and a large international English Division.
Professor Jacek Rożniecki, a neurologist, is the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine at the Medical University of Łódź. He oversees the six-year MD programme, including the English Division, and the clinical teaching delivered across the university's hospitals.
Professor Sebastian Kłosek is the Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Medicine responsible for studies in English. He leads the English Division, which has taught international students since 2003 and now educates more than 700 students from nearly 70 countries.
Professor Andrzej Lewiński, an endocrinologist, was the first Rector of the Medical University of Łódź when it was formed in 2002 from the merger of the Medical Academy and the Military Medical Academy, and he guided the new university through its early years.
The Medical University of Łódź is led by Rector Professor Janusz Piekarski, with Professor Jacek Rożniecki as Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Professor Sebastian Kłosek as Vice-Dean for studies in English. The Medical University of Łódź runs its own student dormitories (Domy Studenckie) near the campus, giving international students secure, affordable housing within reach of lectures and the teaching hospitals.
Dormitory rooms are furnished, usually single or twin rooms in shared units with kitchens and common areas, internet and laundry, and are among the most economical housing in the city.
University dormitory places are cheaper than private rent, and a private or shared room in Łódź typically costs around PLN 1,200–2,000 per month (roughly ₹27,000–₹45,000), lower than in Warsaw or Kraków.
First-year international students are encouraged to apply for a dormitory place on arrival, which keeps them close to fellow students and eases the move to a new country and climate.
Dormitory places are requested through the university's student housing service after admission; because demand is high, students should apply for a room as soon as they accept their offer.

Practising in India
To practise medicine in India after graduating from the Medical University of Łódź, Indian students follow the licensing pathway set by the National Medical Commission (NMC). Because MUL is a WDOMS-listed, English-taught six-year programme, it meets the NMC's core criteria, and students should qualify NEET-UG before joining.
Step 1
Graduates must clear the qualifying examination that licenses foreign medical graduates to practise in India. At present this is the Foreign Medical Graduate Examination (FMGE), which the NMC plans to replace with the National Exit Test (NExT).
Step 2
After qualifying, students complete the required one-year Compulsory Rotatory Residential Internship (CRRI) in India, which builds hands-on experience in Indian clinical settings under the NMC's framework.
Step 3
The final step is registration with the National Medical Commission (NMC) or the relevant State Medical Council. Once registered, the graduate holds a full licence to practise medicine in India.
