How to Apply
Admission to General Medicine at Masaryk University is through the faculty's own written entrance examination, not NEET: multiple-choice tests in Biology, Chemistry and Physics, with a passing threshold of 65%. The online application closes on 31 July 2026, and entrance exams are organised around the world from February to July, so Indian applicants can often sit the test closer to home.
The e-application for the 2026/2027 academic year opens on the university's information system (is.muni.cz).
The faculty organises entrance-exam sittings in many countries between February and July, so applicants can often test in or near their home region.
Final date to submit the completed online application and pay the application fee.
Applicants who reach the 65% threshold are offered a place and then complete verification of their secondary education (nostrification).
Admitted students confirm their place and pay the annual tuition fee before enrolment.
Enrolment takes place in Brno and the academic year begins for the new intake.
The student must have completed Class 12 (or equivalent secondary education) with Physics, Chemistry and Biology. Verification of foreign secondary education is required (under Masaryk University Directive No. 2/2019), with detailed instructions provided after the entrance exam is passed.

Candidates should be at least 17 years old by 31 December of the admission year.
Applicants must submit the online application by 31 July 2026, pay the application fee, and pass the written entrance examination with at least 65%.
Entrance Exam
Three multiple-choice tests (Biology, Chemistry, Physics), 40 questions each with one correct answer and 60 minutes per section; 65% is required to pass for General Medicine.
Preparation Support
The faculty publishes syllabi and sample tests and offers a Foundation programme and three e-learning preparatory courses (Biology, Chemistry, Physics, €100 each) to help applicants prepare.
Admission is based on the faculty's own written entrance examination rather than category-wise minimum marks.

Over more than a century the Faculty of Medicine and the wider Brno scientific community have shaped Czech and world medicine.
The founder of modern genetics, who carried out his famous experiments on inheritance in Brno — the city that is home to Masaryk University. His laws of inheritance underpin all of modern genetics and clinical medicine, and the university's biomedical research builds directly on the genetic science he founded.
Discoverer of Purkinje cells and Purkinje fibres and a founder of modern physiology, he shaped the Czech medical tradition within which Masaryk University's Faculty of Medicine teaches physiology and histology today.
The Czech chemist who invented soft contact lenses, one of the most consequential Czech scientists in medicine; his work in polymer chemistry underlies materials used across ophthalmology and medical devices.

Masaryk University halls of residence in Brno, managed by the SKM (halls and canteens administration), provide a safe, supportive and affordable environment close to the campus and the teaching hospitals.
Masaryk University runs a large network of student halls in Brno through its SKM administration, including halls close to the University Campus Bohunice. Students apply for a room after admission.
Several halls are within easy reach of the University Campus Bohunice and the University Hospital Brno by tram, bus or bicycle, so medical students avoid long commutes.
Rooms are typically single or shared doubles, each with a bed, study desk, chair and storage space, with common areas maintained by the halls staff.
Halls provide shared kitchens and common rooms; students bring their own kitchenware. Bathrooms are shared between rooms or along the floor depending on the building.
Hall accommodation in Brno is cheaper than Prague dormitories, typically around ₹14,000–₹22,000 per month, keeping total living costs below the capital.
Accommodation is requested after admission through the SKM halls administration; capacity is limited, so applying as early as possible is strongly recommended.
Newly admitted students can get help booking their room and obtaining the accommodation confirmation required for the student visa, through the faculty and the SKM office.
Students who prefer more comfort or independence can choose privately operated student residences, or rent or share a private flat. Both options cost noticeably more than the university halls, and students organise this independently as the university does not arrange private housing.

Vegetarian food is easily available in the university canteens, restaurants and supermarkets across Brno, and Indian staples can be bought locally or ordered online.

Practising in India
To practise medicine in India after graduating from Masaryk University, Indian students follow a clear and well-defined licensing pathway set by the National Medical Commission (NMC). It has three stages: clearing the NMC screening examination (currently the FMGE, transitioning to the NExT), completing a one-year internship, and registering with the medical council. None of these steps are unusual or specific to this university — every Indian student who studies medicine abroad follows the same route, and thousands do so successfully each year.
Step 1
Graduates must clear the qualifying examination that licenses foreign medical graduates to practise in India. At present this is the Foreign Medical Graduate Examination (FMGE), which India is in the process of replacing with the National Exit Test (NExT). The NExT is designed to be a single, unified exam that serves two purposes at once: it acts as the mandatory licensing test for all medical graduates, and it functions as the entrance examination for postgraduate (MD/MS) specialisation seats in India. Preparing steadily through the six years of study, rather than only at the end, is the approach that consistently produces strong results.
Step 2
After qualifying, students complete a one-year Compulsory Rotatory Residential Internship (CRRI) in India. This is a paid, hospital-based internship that rotates through core departments such as medicine, surgery, paediatrics, and obstetrics and gynaecology, giving graduates supervised, hands-on clinical experience within the Indian healthcare system before they practise independently.
Step 3
The final step is registration with the National Medical Commission (NMC) or the relevant State Medical Council. Once registered, the graduate holds a permanent medical registration number and is fully licensed to practise medicine as a doctor anywhere in India.
