How to Apply
Admission to General Medicine at the Faculty of Medicine in Hradec Králové is through the faculty's own entrance examination, held in English: a written multiple-choice test plus an interview, run online by the external provider Scio or in person through cooperating agencies abroad. Applicants must be eligible for admission to the same study programme in their home country, which for Indian students means a valid NEET qualification.

In its 80 years the faculty and its university hospital have produced pioneers whose work shaped Czech and world medicine.
One of the most renowned Czech pathologists of the twentieth century, who led pathology in Hradec Králové for decades. The Fingerland Institute of Pathology at the University Hospital Hradec Králové carries his name, and students still train in the institute built on his legacy.
A pioneering surgeon and one of the founders of modern Czech urology and cardiac surgery. Under his leadership the Hradec Králové clinic performed some of Czechoslovakia's earliest heart operations; the Bedrna Pavilion of the university hospital is named after him.
A pioneer of Czech thoracic and cardiac surgery who performed landmark operations in Hradec Králové, including some of the country's first successful open-heart procedures, and taught at the faculty for decades.

Practising in India
To practise medicine in India after graduating from the Faculty of Medicine in Hradec Králové, Indian students follow a clear and well-defined licensing pathway set by the National Medical Commission (NMC). It has three stages: clearing the NMC screening examination (currently the FMGE, transitioning to the NExT), completing a one-year internship, and registering with the medical council. None of these steps are unusual or specific to this faculty — every Indian student who studies medicine abroad follows the same route, and thousands do so successfully each year.
Step 1
Graduates must clear the qualifying examination that licenses foreign medical graduates to practise in India. At present this is the Foreign Medical Graduate Examination (FMGE), which India is in the process of replacing with the National Exit Test (NExT). The NExT is designed to be a single, unified exam that acts as the mandatory licensing test for all medical graduates and as the entrance examination for postgraduate (MD/MS) seats in India. Preparing steadily through the six years of study consistently produces strong results.
Step 2
After qualifying, students complete a one-year Compulsory Rotatory Residential Internship (CRRI) in India. This is a paid, hospital-based internship that rotates through core departments such as medicine, surgery, paediatrics and obstetrics & gynaecology, giving graduates supervised, hands-on clinical experience within the Indian healthcare system before they practise independently.
Step 3
The final step is registration with the National Medical Commission (NMC) or the relevant State Medical Council. Once registered, the graduate holds a permanent medical registration number and is fully licensed to practise medicine as a doctor anywhere in India.
