How to Apply
Admission to the UNIC six-year MD is based on academic grades and English proficiency, not on a competitive entrance examination. Indian students must also qualify NEET to obtain the NMC eligibility certificate required to study medicine abroad, but the UNIC offer itself depends on school grades and English, not on NEET rank.
Complete the UNIC Medical School online application and submit school certificates and English-language evidence for the 6-year MD.
Admission is assessed on strong Class 12 results in science subjects and English proficiency; there is no competitive written entrance examination for the MD.
Applicants may be invited for an admissions interview or assessment as part of UNIC's review before an offer is made.
Admitted students receive an offer and confirm their place by paying the first tuition instalment; scholarships of up to 20% based on need may be applied for after an offer.
International students complete the Cyprus student visa and residence steps, supported by UNIC's Student Service Centre.
The MD programme begins for the new intake in Nicosia (an Athens campus is also available).
Applicants to the 6-year MD must have completed Class 12 (or equivalent) with strong grades in Biology, Chemistry and other sciences. The 5-year graduate-entry MD is for applicants who already hold a university degree. Indian students must also have qualified NEET for NMC eligibility.

Candidates should be at least 17 years old in the year of admission, in line with standard MBBS-abroad and NMC requirements.
Applicants apply online with school certificates and English-language evidence; admission is on grades, English and an admissions review, without a competitive entrance exam.

A strong Class 12 record with Biology, Chemistry and Physics, plus English-language proficiency (IELTS/TOEFL or equivalent, with exemptions for some English-medium backgrounds).
NEET (for Indian students)
Indian students must qualify NEET to obtain the NMC eligibility certificate required for studying medicine abroad and for the screening examination on return.
There is no competitive written entrance examination for the UNIC MD. Admission is decided on academic grades, English proficiency and an admissions review.

Legacy
A young but fast-rising school, UNIC Medical School is led by senior clinician-academics and draws on an international advisory network of leading figures in medicine.
Professor Adonis Ioannides is the Dean of the University of Nicosia Medical School, a position he has held since 2022 and to which he was re-elected in 2025. He leads Cyprus's largest medical school and its research-active, clinically focused MD programme.
Eric Topol, the world-renowned cardiologist and pioneer of AI in medicine, delivered the keynote address at the UNIC Medical School's 2026 graduation as an honoured guest, reflecting the school's international academic connections.

University-affiliated student residences offer a convenient, community-focused base for first-year international students close to campus.

Practising in India
To practise medicine in India after graduating from the University of Nicosia, Indian students follow a clear pathway set by the National Medical Commission. NEET qualification is required from the start, and the NMC's course-and-internship rules should be planned for carefully.
Step 1
Graduates must clear the qualifying examination that licenses foreign medical graduates to practise in India. This is currently the Foreign Medical Graduate Examination (FMGE), which is transitioning to the National Exit Test (NExT).
Step 2
After qualifying, students complete a one-year Compulsory Rotatory Residential Internship (CRRI) in India, gaining supervised clinical experience across the major departments.
Step 3
The final step is registration with the National Medical Commission (NMC) or the relevant State Medical Council, after which the graduate can practise as a doctor in India.
