Introduction

European University Cyprus School of Medicine

European University Cyprus (EUC) is a private university in Nicosia, the capital of Cyprus, that grew out of Cyprus College (founded in 1961) and was granted university status in 2007. It is part of Galileo Global Education, one of the largest higher-education groups in Europe. Its School of Medicine runs a six-year Doctor of Medicine (MD) programme taught entirely in English, accredited by the World Federation for Medical Education (WFME) through Cyprus's national agency. The MD is a six-year, 360-ECTS degree with clinical practice from the first year and clinical rotations in leading public and private hospitals in Cyprus, with externship options across Europe and the United States. The MD is equivalent to an MBBS. Admission is based on academic grades and English proficiency rather than a competitive entrance exam, though Indian students still need to qualify NEET to obtain the eligibility certificate the National Medical Commission (NMC) requires for studying medicine abroad and for licensing later. The degree is listed in the World Directory of Medical Schools, recognised across the European Union and approved by the ECFMG for the US licensing route.

Academic Excellence

Why Study MBBS (MD) at European University Cyprus

EUC offers a WFME-accredited, English-taught MD with early clinical exposure, an international clinical network across Europe and the USA, modern simulation facilities and a safe, English-friendly life in Nicosia.

WFME-Accredited MD Degree

The EUC School of Medicine is accredited by the World Federation for Medical Education through Cyprus's WFME-recognised agency, and approved by the ECFMG, so the degree meets the international standard now required for the US route and increasingly worldwide.

As a Cypriot degree it is recognised across the European Union, and graduates receive a European Professional Passport through the EU's IMI system, supporting mobility to work or train across the European Economic Area.

A Route to India (with NEET)

The competency-based curriculum brings students into clinical skills and patient contact from the first year, supported by advanced medical simulation and clinical-skills laboratories.

EUC has exclusive agreements with major Cyprus hospitals for core clinical rotations, plus rotation and externship options in Greece, Germany, the UK, the USA and Israel, giving students genuinely international clinical exposure.

Taught by World-Class Faculty

The faculty includes internationally recognised researchers, and Nobel Laureate Ada Yonath serves as an Honorary Professor of the EUC School of Medicine, hosting student research externships in her laboratory.

Safe, English-Friendly Nicosia

Cyprus is a safe, sunny EU island where English is very widely spoken, making everyday life easy for international students, with typical living costs of about ₹52,000 to ₹83,000 a month in the capital, Nicosia.
