MBBS in Poland for Indian Students: The Complete 2026 Guide

MBBS in Poland is a six-year, English-medium medical programme, awarded as a Doctor of Medicine (MD), that Indian students can study at state universities such as Łódź, Poznań and Białystok, then use to sit India's Foreign Medical Graduate screening exam. NEET UG 2026 results are out, and MCC counselling is about to open for a razor-thin set of government seats. That makes Poland's three English-medium medical faculties one of the more transparent, EU-standard routes worth understanding this admission season. The honest starting point, as with every "MBBS abroad" decision, is the maths back home. The National Testing Agency declared the NEET UG 2026 result on 16 July 2026, and roughly 11.21 lakh candidates qualified. Against that, the current NMC seat matrix for MCC's NEET UG 2026 counselling shows about 1,36,939 total MBBS seats, of which only around 63,296 sit in government colleges, the affordable seats most families actually target.

Poland stands out within our nine partner countries because it offers three separate state universities, giving Indian applicants more entrance-test dates and intake capacity to work with than a single-university country, at tuition broadly comparable to Latvia and Hungary.

How much does MBBS in Poland cost for Indian students?

Poland sits mid-range among our EU partner countries. It isn't the cheapest, but pricing is transparent and consistent across its three universities. Per each institution's own 2026/2027 fee schedule:

• Medical University of Łódź: €15,100 for Year 1, then €14,900 per year for Years 2 to 6. That's a six-year total of about €89,600, plus a one-time €24 application fee.
• Poznań University of Medical Sciences: a published six-year total of PLN 485,000: PLN 71,000/year for Years 1 to 2, rising to PLN 85,750/year for Years 3 to 6 (roughly €16,700 to €20,200 a year at an indicative €1 ≈ PLN 4.25 rate).
• Medical University of Białystok: €15,100 for Years 1 to 3, rising to €16,200 for Years 4 to 5 and €16,600 in Year 6 (fees can rise up to 30% over the course), plus a one-time €200 admission fee and a mandatory €400 pre-course fee in September of Year 1.

Living costs are extra. Poznań's own admissions page estimates a realistic monthly budget of USD 800 to 1,600 (accommodation, food, transport, insurance and leisure combined). Recheck those figures closer to travel, since costs move.

Is MBBS in Poland recognised by the NMC and valid for FMGE/NExT?

There's no single "NMC-approved list" of foreign medical colleges. What actually matters is whether your course and study path meet the National Medical Commission's Foreign Medical Graduate Licentiate (FMGL) Regulations, 2021. Broadly, that means a course of at least 54 months, roughly 12 months of internship, English-medium instruction, and study plus training at the same institution.

A six-year MD at a Polish state university like Łódź, Poznań or Białystok is structured to fit those criteria, but recognition is never automatic. Before you commit, confirm the specific university is listed in the World Directory of Medical Schools (WDOMS) and check current NMC guidance directly. To then practise in India, you must clear the FMGE, soon to be replaced by the National Exit Test (NExT). It's a screening exam with a historically low pass rate.

What are the eligibility requirements and entrance exams for MBBS in Poland?

Eligibility is straightforward but non-negotiable, and unlike Poland's own domestic system, it isn't a single nationwide cutoff. You need a Class 12 (or equivalent) school-leaving certificate with two of Biology, Chemistry, Physics or Mathematics, and, critically for Indian applicants, a valid, qualifying NEET score, since the NMC requires this of anyone intending to practise in India after studying abroad.

Each university then runs its own admission test:

1. Medical University of Łódź: an MS Teams entrance exam with two parts (a knowledge-check and an interview), where candidates choose 2 of 4 subjects: biology, chemistry, physics or mathematics.
2. Poznań University of Medical Sciences: a 60-minute written science quiz (biology, chemistry, physics) via the university's OLAT platform, followed by a 20 to 40 minute oral interview on Microsoft Teams.
3. Medical University of Białystok: an interview (in person or online) covering biology, chemistry, physics/mathematics and medical English, scored out of 100 points, with offers made from a ranking list.

The practical checklist most Indian applicants work through, regardless of which university they choose, is:

1. Pass Class 12 (PCB) from a recognised board, with the two relevant science subjects your target university needs.
2. Appear for and qualify NEET UG in the relevant year, which is mandatory for anyone who wants to practise medicine in India later.
3. Shortlist Łódź, Poznań or Białystok and submit an online application with transcripts, passport copy and English-proficiency evidence.
4. Pay the one-time application/admission fee and sit the university's entrance test and/or interview.
5. Accept your offer, pay the first tuition instalment, and apply for your Polish national (Type D) student visa.
6. Attend any mandatory pre-course or orientation (for example, Białystok's September pre-course) before term begins in October.

How do you apply for MBBS in Poland after NEET UG 2026 results?

Timing is the theme this year. As of this writing, MCC had not yet published the final NEET UG 2026 counselling schedule; its Information Bulletin is widely expected between 24 to 28 July 2026, with Round 1 registration expected to open in the last week of July or first week of August. Many families use that window to line up an EU backup in parallel, rather than waiting until every domestic counselling round is exhausted.

All three Polish universities run October 2026 intakes with rolling, application-window-based admission rather than a single fixed deadline, so an early, complete application (NEET scorecard, Class 12 marksheets and passport ready) improves both your entrance-test slot options and your visa timeline.

Łódź, Poznań or Białystok: which Polish university fits you best?

All three are state-run, EU-recognised and English-medium, but they differ in profile. Łódź is the largest of the three by international enrolment, with over 800 international students from 70-plus countries, and its two-part MS Teams exam lets you choose your stronger science pairing. Poznań, tracing its roots to 1919/1950, runs the most exam-heavy process (a timed written quiz plus a separate interview) and is well known for strong USMLE outcomes among its graduates. Białystok, also founded in 1950, keeps its process to a single scored interview and, at current fees, starts as the most price-stable of the three across the first three years.
