Medical studies in human medicine in Lodz

The degree programme in human medicine is a six-year course (12 semesters) that ends with the degree of "Medical Doctor".

The aim of the programme is to prepare future generations for work as doctors by teaching basic theories and principles of medical practice, natural sciences, communication skills and working with patients.

The curriculum includes pre-clinical subjects (e.g. anatomy, physiology, histology, genetics, microbiology, pharmacology), which are mainly taught in the 1st, 2nd and 3rd year, and clinical subjects (e.g. internal diseases, surgery, paediatrics, psychiatry, gynaecology and obstetrics, infectious diseases), which are taught in the 4th, 5th and 6th year. Computer Science and Biostatistics, Social Sciences (including Academic Professionalism), Humanities and English are also part of mbbs in poland medical university lodz. Students can choose from a variety of elective courses to broaden their knowledge and further their interests.

Practical skills are acquired during clinical traineeships in the summer holidays at the university, among other things.

Graduates in human medicine have the knowledge and practical skills in the areas of prevention, treatment and rehabilitation required to work as a doctor. After graduation, they can enrol for a postgraduate internship. After completing this, they take the state examination for doctors. A positive result enables doctoral students to choose one of the many specialist training programmes and apply for postgraduate and doctoral studies. Once they have completed their educational programme, their recruitment is with an established institution is definite.

Study of dentistry (dental medicine) in Lodz

Studying dentistry is a five-year higher education programme (10 semesters) that ends with the degree "Doctor of Dental Medicine".

The teaching programme based on reliable research includes morphological sciences (e.g. anatomy, histology, embryology), scientific principles of medicine (e.g. biochemistry, physiology of the masticatory apparatus, human physiology), pre-clinical sciences (e.g. ergonomics, pharmacology, dental materials science, pathophysiology, pathomorphology), behavioural sciences (e.g. sociology, computer science, history of philosophy, history of medicine), general clinical sciences (e.g. internal diseases, infectious diseases, general surgery, oncological surgery, dermatology, ophthalmology, neurology, paediatrics, radiology, rehabilitation, otorhinolaryngology, primary internal diseases, infectious diseases, general surgery, oncological surgery, dermatology, ophthalmology, neurology, paediatrics, radiology, rehabilitation, ENT medicine, first aid) and specialised clinical sciences (e.g. oral surgery, oral surgery, maxillofacial surgery). Oral surgery, oral surgery, endodontics, gerodontology, orthodontics, oral pathology, periodontology and oral mucosal diseases, prosthetics, dental radiology, conservative dentistry, paediatric dentistry) as well as legal and organisational principles of medicine (e.g. dental ethics, medical certification, medical law and management in dentistry).

Dentistry graduates have relevant knowledge and practical skills that enable them to

• diagnose the most common diseases and assess the somatic condition of a patient,

• professional dental care in terms of prophylaxis and treatment as well as health promotion,

• patients and initiate comprehensive dental treatment,

• communicate effectively with patients and their families and conduct research for the society,

• have the necessary competences to supervise a dental team,

• to act in accordance with the acquired clinical knowledge and in compliance with humanitarian principles.

Dentistry graduates can work not only in public and private healthcare facilities, but also in research facilities, development centres and institutions that deal with health promotion. After obtaining the necessary licences, they can also open their own dental practice or form strategic partnerships with other established dentists and hospitals.
